Random MSN Gibberings LIV: teh polis are watching us!

Fucking crap. 11:10 appt to see my doc, finally got called in at 11:50. My blood pressure is high, she wants me to bring in an unsavoury sample and get blood work done. No medication. My blood work isn't even until next week!

I have this sore spot on my foot so she gave me some crap cream for it. It's just moisturiser what ever. Only one other person in the chemist. 20 minutes later I finally get my script. Get home just in time for me to run to the toilet and be sick. Funny, I've not eaten anything all day so it was rather painful. So, now I'm tired and in a foul mood. Thank you doctors! :X

Think I'm gonna try and get some sleep. First, a fag.

Morning all. Sorry for the rant. :\

Aye, smoke a snout. That'll make you feel less ill.

I've decided to give up the fags soon. My maw had said she'd bring me back a few hundred from holiday but I've told her not to bother & get me a bottle of rum or something instead. I genuinely don't seem to be addicted to nicotine even though I've smoked like fuck for 10 years, I can easily go a few days without even thinking about it if I'm not out. I haven't smoked a fag since Friday & only smoked about 1/4 of one in a joint last night, rest of my weed has been bonged. Once the 40 or so fags I have in the house run out then I'm quitting.

Fucking crap. 11:10 appt to see my doc, finally got called in at 11:50.

Mine was 11:40 and got in at 12:20. Do doctors exist 40 minutes into the future? Hope you get some decent meds (or even just summat that works to make you feel better) after bloodwork and unsavoury sample - ha! not even gonna wonder what that might be :D

My doc refused to up me script but agreed to stop tapering me and leave it where it is for now. Wants me to go see the drug counsellor again too which is fine by me. He also gave me a prescription for voluntary work. Might be fun - summat to keep me occupied at least.

Other than that, 100mg of tram has got rid of those bastard brain zaps that have been zapping me constantly all weekend and 450mg of codeine has me itchy as an itchy thing but feeling more healthy than I have in a fortnight. I may even forgive the 40 minute wait.

Sounds like a crap time at the doc's for all of us. I'm sick of being ill. It's pissing me right off.

Good for you not taking the anti-depressants Mop. Stress is totally different than depression. They kept trying to fob me off with anti-depressants when I was stressed out my nut last year. Ended up having to go on them anyway but that was because I ended up a depressed mess.

Sorry to hear they didn't up any of your meds Shammy. But hey, at least you got him to stop being a sneaky little wang by tapering you without your consent.

Indeed, Sadie. Think it was actually one of the other docs who fiddled with me doses cos he seemed quite surprised about it. Or may have been a computer fuck-up cos it was telling him I've had no script for three months. Think I would've noticed if that was the case :D

That aside, Crikey O'Riley that was an insane histamine reaction to the codeine earlier! Looked like I'd been boiled in beetroot juice for a while there and the "itching" (was way beyond itching - need a new word to describe it) was unbe-fuckin'-lievable. Seemed to concentrate in one part of the body for a while then somewhere else, somewhere else, back again, rinse, repeat. Blood pressure either went through the roof or through the floor too - nearly fainted a coupla times. Also made my arms weak and rubbery to the point of uselessness and cramped my hands up so bad I couldn't even scratch. Was more intense than when I used to IV a gramme at a time. Don't usually get bad histamine reactions but fuck me that one made up for it 8o

Warm bath and time has settled it down to background mild irritation thank fuck. Anti-histamines a-go-go come payday :D

Also, good call on skipping the antidepressants, Mop. Docs seem obsessed with them when they're nowt but bad news for most. They have their place... but that place is well away from most people.

Just finnished typing up 1000 words of my 5000 word essay. Now time to chill for a while me thinks, perhaps a spliff :D

OUCH shammy! That sounds horrible. More trouble than it's worth tbh but only you can be the judge of that.

Agreed on the antidepressants. They have their place but it's not a cure all for everything. They really do try and fob those off for every little thing.

Booze has given me some respite. Not much and I'm sure to suffer tomorrow. Booze really is the crappiest drug. Hell, even the crap coke going in the UK is better than booze. meh, It's done it's job for now.

Just had an absolutely mental 24 hours, in a hospital lol. I had to go in last night because I was having severe stomach pains and constantly throwing up blood. As soon as I got seen too I managed to get 10g of morphine injected, first time having IV opiates, and my god was it bliss even just at 10mgs, almost forgot about the constant vomiting. When I got transferred to a ward I managed to blag this Asian nurse into giving me another 10mg Iv morphine.

This morning they took me down to get an endoscopy and they gave me 4mg of Midazolam, that didn't even touch the sides due to benzo tolerance so the kind doctor gave me another shot that sent me to a nice place. The rest of the day was drug free unfortunately but I still feel nice from all that, just had some diaz and that brought the niceness back.

Absolutely pointless story lol, but I now see why people go on about IV opiates, very very nice and that was only tiny doses. I wont be doing it again unless a nurse or doctor injects me, too much of a wimp to inject myself with anything.

Doctors don't try and fob people off on antidepressants. They often do work and have saved my life I reckon, its just unfortunate that there are so many different types and everyone responds to them differently.. Unfortunately mental health services are pretty dire, and depression is common, so docs do offer them out a lot as they have nothing else to offer (18mth waiting list for CBT anyone?), there's a good chance they'll find one that suits and there is a good evidence base for them. They're not just trying to be dicks!

(I admit some docs are, but you guys are starting to sound like daily mail doctor-bashers..)

MOP, are you depressed? I hope not, tis awful, but believe me boshing serotonin depleting drugs will make things a million times worse.. I stayed off antideps partly for that reason, and ended up trying to kill myself recently. Not worth it..

And why do you think docs are running late? Its not to piss people off, its because some patients are complicated and require longer than the allocated 10 mins (thats 10 mins to read your notes, see you and type it up) and docs dont want to rush these people out of the door. They are under huge pressure. Thats why you can't get your bloods done til next week Sadie.. in Kenya or India or many other places you wouldn't get the care you get in this country.

Shammy, you get free drugs which I know you need but in 90% of the world you couldn't get, and sometimes you use em for fun, and it costs NHS funds to supply you with them. Am not attacking you at all, I know you really need your meds and I use drugs for fun, just using this as an example as why the NHS doesn't need people moaning at those working in it. It's a million times better than most of the world (as in, you actually get free treatment whatever) and I've had a shit day and needed to rant.

Sorry guys I understand your frustration at waiting. But seriously. I've seen too many people die through lack of access to affordable healthcare, people need to not assume they are entitled to everything exactly as they want, right now.

Eeeeeep sorry guys, that was a mega rant, just had a horrible day/week/time generally, as those eagle eyed and bothering to read all my post will realise, and today was especially bad.

Sorry. 40 mins is a frustratingly long time to wait and you are entitled to rant about it.

it's not depression, I've not got time for that it's stress.
So that's the point what the fuck do I need anti depressants for?
I've got alot on and I'm disapearing up my own arse.
I used to drink like a fish bit I'm not going down that route again.
As far as I'm concerned he can stick his citalopram up his arse.

Nah fair enough, def not good for those not depressed! It's not often obvious tho which is why docs often ask people who turn out not to be. Especially stressed people. Glad you are not though :)

Stress is horrible, was not attacking you in any way, as I said just had a bad one and tired of everyone taking a pop at doctors.. I admit there are some awful ones out there though.

Hope things ease up for you soon.

Thanks :), I think my doctor is paranoid that if he was to give me something that would help, I'd be a steaming junkie in a fortnight.
After 23 years of on and off drug use, holding down a job and looking after a large family I'm sure I'm a better judge of that than he is.
God I wish it was the 50's or 60's you got looked after back then

FUCKIN +1 to that !!!

Aw honey, I see you're having a bad day. I don't get pissed off at the doctor usually I get pissed off at the NHS for giving doctors a tiny 10 minute window to work out of. Myself, I was in and out in under 10 as I was to the point and didn't want to faff about. Sadly my doc wanted to talk about my anti depressants taken last year when I went in for flu like symptoms but hey. And Was also mad as the doc I saw ( not my fav ) was rather condescending. I.e. with my foot cream " do you think you can commit yourself to putting this on three times a day?" seriously? Also, went in yawning she asked " am I keeping you up" to which I replied Yes, I've waited almost an hour to see you and my exhaustion is why I came in. All in a matter of fact if not jovial tone.

I see where you're coming from and I'm sorry if I offended you. Twas not my intent. I have a soft spot for good doctors. I love my own doctor that much I'm gonna write him a thank you card and get his wife some flowers. He's been the most amazing doctor I've ever known and helped myself and my family through some pretty thick times. Even today when I didn't get an appointment with him he saw me in the waiting room and waved hello. When I see him he always asks about the family and is genuinely concerned.

Good doctors are hard to come by, but I know not impossible. I've been lucky <3
Good doctors can make all the difference in the world.

Doctors fucking love citalopram. It's because the traditional thing they'd give you for stress is some sort of benzo but most doctors seem to hate scripting benzos so citalopram is the next best thing really. I was prescribed it. Told them no chance. Self medication ftw.

The problem with any MH issue, which is what were mostly going there for, not cuz drugs send you nuts, but rather cuz nuts people tend to quite like drugs and being on forums IME, is that they are fucking hard to treat. If some unthinking meathead cmes in cuz he's fucked his knee playing rugby or kicking a tramp or whatever then it's textbook stuff.

If you have less visible issues then there is no magic cure, and theres a lot of trial and error.

If it wasnt that way we'd all be fine and fucking dandy :D

My gp is alright, and thank fuck for that because themore specialized mh services in my area are a load of shit. My gp and my cpn are diamonds tho.

The problem with any MH issue... is that they are fucking hard to treat.

they don't have to make it worse though. which a lot of GPs do with their attitude. most people with MH problems know there is no quick fix and don't expect one, they just want to feel like their doing whatever they can to help their situation. i'm only really familiar with services for depression and eating disorders and sorry, but some ED 'treatments' are just torture, plain an simple.

Absolutely pointless story lol, but I now see why people go on about IV opiates, very very nice and that was only tiny doses..

i'm sorry to hear you've been unwell- hope its nothing too serious and you don't have to have anything horrible done to sort it out.

totally surprised by your morphine experience. i think there's something wrong with my opiate receptors. i had it when i'd brutally smashed myself up (osteopenia ftl), guessing at least the first dose was a big un cos it was in a private clinic (ski resort) and neither that, nor the constant subsequent doses over hte next 3 days, did anything. glad it provided you an upside to an awful experience for you.
