Quitting Suboxone - What's my best bet here?

I am trying to get off 2mg of subs taken daily for 8 months....was at 12mg for 16 mos prior and tapered to 2mg...........every 24 hours I feel crappy as hell in the am until I take my 2 mg.
I knew nothing about subs and went to a shrink who had me as her only sub patient.......so I now know I should have been off this within a couple months..........all I had was a 30mg oxy habit orally.

anyway the doctor moved away and the new dr wants me on gabapentin etc to detox and I think I am better off withdrawing with low dose vicodin or 5 mg perc

I can already tell he wont treat me w/o the gaba and he's expensive monthly..and gaba has real issues from what I read

How long after my last 2mg sub (taken daily for 8mo) should I switch to vicodin or oxy 5 or 10 and then get through the sub wd nightmare ?
How many hours.is recommended? I dont want to waste the timing process or few pills.........I know I can stop the few weeks of low dose pills
btw I have had no opiates (relapses) for 2.5 yrs

I am a family man w/ a job that will not tolerate a month or more of being SUB W/D dysfunctional so this seems to be the course for me.

Please give your advise on how soon after last sub and what strength needed to get through the sub nightmare
Have access to a couple benzos but that didnt help with the sub taper below 2mg......still felt like I was in panic mode

This crap is wicked and the SUB drs here are nuts and money grubbers

Thanks in advance for any info that isnt you're a drug addict so why do this.
I cant afford to lose my job and go broke with the sub thing anymore

Thanks

Ween down to .25, it is worth it. Move through the waves of panic with exercise and hot showers.
After I hovered around .5-.25 for a month, I came off. I was on anywhere from 2mg-1mg a day for a year.
It was so much easier than I thought. Still went through withdrawal, but manageable, only a few days of blaaaah and anxiety.
The only lingering symptom was MAJOR lethargy, which I managed through a caffiene and rockstar habit for a bit.
After a couple months, I stopped drinking serious rockstar beverages. Now I just drink coffee heh...better than an opiate addiction.
Ive been off for over a year now. SO much happier.
I think sometimes I would trick my self into worrying about withdrawal right when it would happen and it would make it worse. A positive push though mind set does wonders.

How can ameasure in .25 increments ?
Can I dilute the tabs in water and measure in ml.with an oral syringe.
Will the medicine stay stable in the air tight oral syringe and if I dispense under my tongue will it stay there long enough to get enough absorbtion ?
8mg tabs are the only way I can afford this.
Should I be dosing every 12 hours or 24...have been doing it every 24

Thanks................this is a mess over a 30 mg vicodin habit.
Had no idea it was addictive because I was told it affected the other side of the receptor.
Dr knew nothing and so do I until she moved and I came to this forum

any one with ideas I would appreciate it.
This is an ongoing nightmare.
too many side effects and cost and what if I need surgery which I will in a few months

/\ Yes water is your best friend when it comes to tapering sub. Just go out now and buy eye droppes with milimeter markings on it. Dilute the sub in a specific amount of water, and this is how you "standardize" it for taking very tiny doses. In fact you can bring the dose down so low you can make the sub "homeopathic" in effect. This is how I'm tapering my sub right now. I'm going lower than .1mg right now Im at .5mg. After .1mg I will just begin measuring by drops. Like 10 drops one week, 9 drops the next, 8 drops the next week. I'm convinced I'm not going to experience any withdrawals and am going to write an ebook about it when I'm done to document it.

Imo you can dose every 24 hours, but when you get really low on the sub you'll begin to wake up in wds in the morning. You may only find yourself sleeping 4 hours a night. So I take 2/3 my dose in the morning, than 1/3 my dose in the evening so I can sleep through the night.

The key is to GO SLOW. Drop your doses in very tiny amounts using water like I said. 8mg sub to 16ml of water = .5mg per 1ml. Or .25mg 1/2 ml.
If you do 8mg in 32ml water, you get .25mg per 1ml water, or .125mg per 1/2 ml, or .0675mg per 1/4 ml. Just get a calculator out and go to town. =]

This is by far the easiest, most effective way to taper off sub. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO is SLOWLY keep the dose heading down.
Also, if you get slammed with RLS or depression that means STOP TAPERING for 2 weeks so your body can adjust.

This happens to me every so often and I just put my taper on pause.

I'm not coming off this shit till I'm under .06mg (will probaly take it down to .01mg which is 1/100th of 1mg lol). People may laugh at this, but the ENTIRE REASON people experience horrible lethargy/anxiety coming off low doses of sub, is because "low" is not as low as they think. This crap is like no other opiate known to man, you MUST respect it, you MUST bring your use down as low as possible. That way you can just stop, be a bit tired for a few weeks, but snap back into life relatively quick. You will absolutely love and thank yourself is you just listen to me and take it slow. I've seen hundreds upon hundreds of opiate addicts try to come off this shit and LOW & SLOW IS THE KEY!

This medicine will remain stable and potent for days in purified water ?
I asked my pharmacist about bacteriastatic water and she went nuts......lol
Went home to google it and discovered it's for IV solutions............and went back to tell her it was for oral admin..............she felt much better about me.
Shit I am a good customer there for 2.5 yrs..........lol

WOW..........what would you say I am looking at in tapering time from 2mg every 24hr to .25mg every 24hr.
This is some crazy mess I am in...............these prescribers should really be certified extensively as there is no way my 30mg a day habit warranted 2.5 yrs of this.
Man I had no clue.
Dropping from 12 mg to 2mg was easy in retrospect

the eye dropper ..is that like an oral syringe ?
they have some pretty accurate ones in ml
Can I take a 4mg tab and keep it stable in water for a week ?
Thanks
I truly appreciate your help

Why would there need to be 5 instances???

As I said, it's not beneficial for everyone. Not everyone needs to be on ADHD medication.

I can tell that heroin use, for me, was a form of self-medication for ADHD. Having d-amphetamine or d-methamphetamine as a medicine would be highly beneficial for me, and it has helped me a lot in getting over heroin addiction. Other amphetamine based stimulants, such as 3,4-methylenedioxyamphetamine (colloquially, MDA) have helped out tremendously as well.

Many people with ADHD battle with drug addiction/dependency either as a means to self-medicate ADHD symptoms, or to manage the disorder directly. It happens, it's not infrequent.

U are 100% correct i take suboxone and klonopin its because i used heroin to get out this slump of depression i was in i just wanted to die that was all!! im 28 with 2 beautiful kids,so suboxone came and i honestly cant get off my anxiety blows up my butt hates me ahhhhhhhhhhhh i cant quit suboxoneI AM FINE I DONT CRAVE PILLS 5 YEARS OF SUBOXONE IM SICK OF IT!!!!!

Yes you can GET OFF! Stop thinking you can't. I am tapering oxy now & sometimes feel so sad/depressed i get it in my head that i will be sad all the time again. I self-medicated, i think that's the most common reason we get addicted to anything. I have severe anxiety. Sometimes i have to stop the car & get out to pace after only 5 minutes. I have to walk/pace when the anxiety hits. I work 3 miles from my home & will have to stop sometimes 3-5 times. It's insane, no one understands.

Are you tapering the suboxone? Please ask around here & other places to find a way to manage your anxiety. You are young & have those beautiful children...it would be wonderful for you to really enjoy your children instead of being in the haze of suboxone. My son has been on sub for 2 years & is tapering. He has a very physical job & will spike if he has to work over time. He says it's just to hard to work 18 hours & stay on his taper. He needs to work as he will be a Daddy in February. He want's to be off sub by then & i hope he is. He has been off sub & says even though he feels "clean" on sub there is a big difference when he is off, he says the fog is gone.

How much sub do you take? Have you ever tried a taper?

get down to .5mg a day and most of your wds jumping off at that point will be psychological and not as intense as the psychological wds from cocaine or methamphetamine there will be some mild flu like symptoms but compared to oxycodone wds it's easy as sunday morning
