Quitting Smoking... Best way?

electric cigarettes are amazing.

For me, giving up smoking is hard because you're actually giving up two things. Firstly the nicotine addiction, and secondly the compulsion to smoke. Trying to quit both at once is tough, and is why a lot of people fail.

The electric cigarette will get you off 'smoking' and then you manage your capsule strength down to get off the nicotine.

Even if you struggle, the electric cigarette is still 100% safer than cigerettes, and certainly about 1000% cheaper where I live.

good luck

It is not absolutely safe, it still uses tobacco extracts, which naturally contain carcinogens to begin with. Make sure you buy the ones that have a safety mechanism on it to prevent you from taking in too much nicotine.

^If it makes me sick it will make me quit wicked fast.. but yea I am researching the one I am getting and it seems to be a good one. Just have to wait til the husband gets home from work.

Why did you hate it? I am just curious? I know it's not gonna be "the same" but I just want to be done with the actual "smoking".. and I can also "hold" it when I want and for some retarded reason that makes me happy.. Thanks.

I tried the E-Cigs and they didn't work since they taste nothing like cigarettes, and it's more the taste that im addicted to.

I was on 40 a day for 10 years and I adjusted to taste of the e-cig within about 2 weeks. I can never go back now. You can also buy your own bottle of nicotine and top up the cartridges yourself. You can get lots of flavour and there are some designed to taste exactly like your favorite brand of cigarette.

^What kind of E-Cig did you get? I got the one from the tobacco store and I like it but I am gonna get a way better one. I got the elektro..it was 50 bucks and is for right now basically. I want one like what you were talking about.

I was looking into the smokestik, the Luci.. but am definatly looking for links and suggestions!

Thanks guys. If I can kick xanax and klonopin.. I can quit smoking. I got some of the gum. I have one last pack. I decided to take the money I save from smoking and put half to bills and the other half to skin care and make up I want.. I am a makeup artist/photographer. but since smoking is so bad for your skin why not reward myself after a month of being cigarette free with the best skin care line I can find? I do really want this, I am just gonna need all the support I can get. Especially since my husband still smokes. Basically I would like to have it so maybe a year down the road I can enjoy one cigarette after a nice meal and have it just be that.. one cigarette. I enjoy tobacco I just don't want to be a daily, weekly, or even monthly smoker. But in order to get there, I have to completely quit and be cigarette free for atleast 6 months or more. Maybe by then the entire idea of a cigarette will disgust me. Who knows.. lol Thanks all.

I highly recommend not smoking ever in the future if you do manage to quit.
It will not go so well when your brain catches on to the fact that you are smoking again.
Then, you might slip back into old habits.

Didn't bother me. In fact I knew I had finally kicked the habit once and for all when I was able to smoke when I wanted and not crave cigarettes in the days and weeks afterwards.

about 2 months after I quit I was in a nightclub and ran into a friend that new I used to smoke and probably thought I still did. We were chit-chatting and she pulled out her smokes and her hands were wet, asked me to light it for her. I was drunk and didn't consider the fact that I had just quit and didn't wanna get back into it. I took the first drag which is usually the best one and was so disgusted with it. I think that it is possible the "cravings" or desire to smoke after a meal, a beer, etc will go away and you will find that you do not like tobacco as much as you thought you did when you were hooked on cigs.

I was actually reminded that I should not smoke them because it tasted nasty and my lungs felt like i had just inhaled mud. I have not smoked or taken a drag since then and that was 7 years ago. =)

My wife even smokes when we drink or do MDMA and I am not bothered by it at all nor have I any desire to light up. In fact I wish she would quit, but i would never ask her too; I have plenty of poor habits i would hate for her to ask me to give up.

I am actually surprised you can purchase a bottle of nicotine, I would imagine the people in power would be too worried someoen would drink it or poison someone by dipping a cigarette in it and letting it dry before slipping it into their wife or husbands pack; resulting in their death.

I haven't read any PP.

When I quit cigs, I set a quit date as Feb 14 (love yourself). So from Jan 1-Feb 14 I was working on decreasing, decreasing, decreasing. Say no as much as possible. By Feb 1 I only was having VERY random cigs - not every day. That left room for "one last cig" mess-ups before the Feb 14. Point is, be clean before your quit date. 6 weeks is a good plan.

How much are you smoking?

You need alternative behaviors. Make a list of things to do "instead" that don't take a lot of motivation to do. (watch TV, etc...) Cravings last only like 3 minutes usually.

I found myself having to say "no" again, and again, and again, and again. My partner was smoking, which didn't help but it didn't hurt either! It was my choice.

The cravings decreased significantly after 30 days =D

Patches worked for me. I used 21 mg. for two weeks, 14 mg.next two weeks and 7 mg. the last 2 weeks so 12 weeks total. I ate carrots and such every 2-3 hrs. to speed up my metabolism and did not gain weight so it worked.
Really, that was the way to go for me. Previously, I tried Zyban, Acupuncture, Cold turkey and Chantix. Patches was the only thing that worked.

I bought a pack of newports (I was a parliment smoker). I hated newports, and could barely finish a cigg. But since I had the pack, and packs are exspensive, I didn't buy a pack of parliments. This led to me only smoking about 2 of those horrible newports a day. After that pack, I quit.
I now only smoke on opiates, which I havent had in months. I think thats how its gonna be for me for now on. I have done this since august. Opiates and a pack of smokes once every couple of months.

Holy fuck.. newports are expensive.. lol Everytime I see somebody buying them it's like 7 dollars or some shit. I am with you on the smoking on opiates thing... some things just feel too good. But I am gonna keep smoking on opiates to this Electric Cig until I get it under control. Thanks :D
