hey i need some advice, my addiction isnt the hardest of drugs but i feel like my life is spiraling out of control. i blaze it literally every day, mostly all day. i recently started using ecstasy, but i am still in control of that. i do all my reasearch and am a smart drug user but the euphoria of being high seems to be too much for me to fight. i just finished the last of my bud 2day and i am trying 2 stay sober until a rave on may 22 and then not again until e.d.c. wish me luck as i have no hope for myself...thank you for your time

A few days ago, I ran out of weed. I had been smoking it every single day for about 3 weeks. I was pretty upset, and I couldn't stop thinking about it. I had cravings for it, but they weren't that strong. They lasted for a day or two. Now, I'm fine.

Doing it everyday is not a really huge problem. Over the 3 week period, I got straight A's on all my tests and didn't have any problems with my family or friends. Of course, I'm in 10th grade, so I have fewer responsibilities than most people.

The only real problems with smoking everyday are:
1. If you do it for a long time, you may get throat or lung damage. Using a vaporizer or eating it eliminates this threat. But then again, a joint equals a few cigarettes. If you smoke a joint everyday, that's about a pack of cigarettes a week. Not exactly the same, not incredibly harmful, but not a habit you want to pick up.

2. Your tolerance will go up. It happened to me. On the first day of the 3 weeks, I smoked very little (.25 grams) and got completely blazed. At the end, I smoked 2 grams and didn't get as high as my first time. So not only were my highs becoming boring, they were getting extremely expensive.

I would say only use it every 3 days or so, to keep your tolerance down.

Also, if you take a break, your first smoke is really good. I took a year long break, smoked and it was amazing.

semigenius, you seem a little young to get the scope of the OP's problem. I've been smoking pot every day for about 6 years, and I tend to do it all day everyday. OP, I feel you, I'm wishing you some luck --- god knows I'm gonna need it when I have to do it.

semigenius, 3 weeks of daily use isn't going to change your ability to perform on exams and such, that comes with years of use over time (however I'm a graduate student and smoke daily so, I guess that really depends on who you are to some degree).

Yea dude 3 weeks is nothing and you will still feel your normal self pretty much. After yearly use every day you still are your normal self 'kinda'. IME which i am currently feeling is brain fog, appetite seems worse if i haven't blazed that day, and my mood and emotions are kinda off, as well as sleeping at night will take at least an hour of laying in bed before i fall asleep if i haven't smoked that day. These are all reasons why i continue to smoke everyday, just feeding the cycle. I mean it is something you can totally live with but prolonged use of daily pot does catch up to you and it isn't fun : (

yeah you'll be fine I think

concentrate on other stuff & getting things done instead of thinking about weed.

it will do you good!

I smoked weed everyday for the better part of 14 years with literally only a handful of days where I didn't smoke. If you're concerned about being too high too often even on something as harmless as weed I would suggest you just quit. It's mostly mental, I couldn't believe how much better I felt after not smoking weed for a month. The tricky part is the whole replacing addictions thing, I went straight to alcohol after I quit, then benzos, etc.....

I know weed isn't really that dangerous or bad for you, and I personally think it's great for some people, it can definitely get in the way of your life when you're too high too often. The way I quit was I went to Europe for a month and I wasn't about to take any with me, I realized after a couple weeks that I felt much better without the weed. It was really only traveling that got me off weed, but you can do it if you put your mind to it. compared to opiates and benzos weed withdrawals are nothing.

Yeah it's only in the mind. I havent been without for a very long time, and i LOVE the feeling of being stoned, but I notice that I prefer the active nature that I am in the morning before I have a joint - I am in a POPPING good mood. So i prolong that. though after work like now I am 3 j's in and a tin of beer.

You;ll be fine. have a couple of brandys.

I was a huge pothead from 14-12 or so. I started getting that "weed anxiety".. and I quit. I LOVED being stoned. I had so much fun.. but you can have fun not smoking weed too. It wasn't that big of a deal for me. Maybe you could explore some other things to take every now and again for a good time and put weed behind you if that's what you want. But let me assure you not smoking weed is not the end of the world. I now smoke once a year on vacation in the summer on the beach and I do enjoy it. I take a xanax beforehand and that "anxiety" is gone. That's enough for me... it's the nostalgia... feeling like I'm a kid again. You can do it if it's what you want.
