Quitting Ativan Cold turkey

I have been taking low to moderate doses of ativan everyday (usually 2-3mg) for the last 10-12 days. As far as I can remember my largest dose was 5mg which was last night. I plan to not take another dose starting today and wondered if I will have any severe WD symptoms without doing some sort of taper.

Everyone is different & there's no way of us knowing how you will be affected........I purpose that you do s small taper over a week period.
 
I don't think it should be too awful bad. I haven't every had any problems after this period of time beyond sleeplessness and I have never seen anyone else either. Everyone is different though.
 
Any effects you think you feel will be purely psychological.

2-3mg for 10 days? It's Ativan for God's sake.
 
you will no doubt have withdrawls , it will not be terrible. just get some melatonin or other natural sleep aid because when going cold turkey or tapering of any benzo ive found you will have difficulty sleeping for the first few days. dont go down more than .5 mg a day and youll be 100% fine
 
You might as well take 1 mg for a day or so and half a mg for a day or so. It is terrible for your brain to go through abrupt changes. About the only symptom you mgiht have if you quit would be a bit of anxiety\uncomfortableness and maybe a harder time sleeping. Do you want to risk it though? Another mg of ativan for the next day or two what is the harm?
 
I would be pretty surprised if you experience physical withdrawal. Stop taking the dose and if you find yourself experiencing any substantial withdrawals then you can do a short taper. Benzo tolerance usually happens really slowly and without tolerance you will not experience withdrawals.

Tolerance develops rather quickly, in fact, but tolerance to the psychological effects admittedly develops more quickly than physical depend ace does.

I agree with NSA's message; in all likelihood, there is very little for you to be concerned with by tapering. You are very wise for getting off the benzos now, rather than when you've developed a physical tolerance. I'm currently on my 36th day of withdrawal from 15 years of scripted benzodiazepines.

It's bad. :|

No doubt? Even for just 10 days? Why make such a black and white claim?
 
I am going to go with the majority by recommending you wean yourself off by taking 1 to .5 mgs once or twice a day. And if you have the Ativan why put yourself through the stress of quitting cold turkey? Terrible withdrawal comes with benzos but this is very minor. You will be okay after a day or two but this is only based on my personal experience.
