Used vikes heavy for 6 years, xanax carefully for 5 years, and oxy off and on for 2 years but I did binge recently around 180mg-210mg per day for a month.

It's been 2 days since my last dose of Vicoprofen, 3 days since my last dose of Percocet, and 4 days since my last dose of Xanax. I have six 30mg oxycodone ir's left so when I finish snorting them then the fun begins. I dunno if six pills are enough for a taper so I'm jumping off @ around 180mg. Ouch.

If I don't die in the next few months I'll update this post from time to time. I'm choosing the hard way, cold turkey. I'm 100% sure I will not relapse. I'm just not sure I'll live long. I'm pretty sure I won't ever feel happy again, hopefully I'm wrong about that one. Time will tell.

Love you all. Much Respect. Wish me luck.

Man you should really not be snorting those. Take my word for it. Eating them is overall much more powerful and long lasting. I know it feels lovely to rip a fat line but you'd get higher or taper much easier if you took orally.

How much Xanax a day? You gotta be careful, benzo withdrawals can cause seizures and death, no joke. You can't always just cold turkey.

Jumping from 200mg oxy will be rough but after a week you will start feeling much better. 10 days max and you will have no major w/d, maybe some PAWS. Oxy withdrawal is a bitch but could be much worse, aka heroin, fentanyl, or methadone.

Good luck. Get lopermide- makes withdrawals exponentially easier!! And jack off occasionally

Thanks 4 the advice & kind thoughts.

It's been 19 days since my last dose of Vicoprofen, 20 days since my last dose of Percocet, 21 days since my last dose of xanax, and 16 days since my last dose of Oxycodone.

This is a military trick for cutting withdrawals: Go to the vitamin store and buy an amino acid called "L-Tyrosine". Try not to eat any protein for several hours before you do this, or else do it as soon as you get up in the morning. The max dose of L-Tyrosine is 8 grams per day. Divide 8 grams (YES, EIGHT GRAMS, or sixteen 500 mg capsules) into two (2) doses of four grams each. Take the first dose on an empty stomach with a FULL 8 ounce glass of water. Wait 15 minutes and eat a small carbohydrate breakfast (bread, pancakes, sugar, but NO PROTEIN or it WONT WORK, and not too much food). Wait 15 more minutes and take the second half of the L-Tyrosine. Within 30-45 minutes you will begin to have releif which will last for 8-12 hours. This works because Tyrosine is the precursor to Norepinephrine (adrenaline) in the brain. The carbs help more pass across the blood-brain barrier and get turned into adrenaline, which cures all ills in a physical distress situation.

Men who are SHOT in combat have been known to NOT NOTICE until after the combat using this technique, and it will certainly take care of those pesky withdrawals. Remember, Tyrosine is non-toxic, but the maximum safe dose in one day is 8 grams, so you can only do this once per day. After doing for a day or so, give yourself a day off so your liver and kidneys can have a break. ymmv.

Wow! Great information to know, and wholly unexpected factoid about the wounded servicemen there! Thanks for sharing that with us, Tosh.Suku! :)

In addition, congratulations on what appears to have been a successful taper! How long did your symptoms last? Where are you mentally, re:

16 days in I'd say your over the worst of it. But that all depends on what you consider the 'worst.'
The initial w/d, for me, is bad. I have not yet decided however, if i hate the w/d or the PAWS the most.
That being said, I know exactly what you mean when you say you will never feel happy again. It's been about 6 months now since i have been in ACTIVE addiction, and at times I'm still miserable. It's a fine mess we get ourselves into.

On a lighter note, it all depends on your mindset and how active you keep yourself.
In the morning, don't just lay there, get on up and make yourself something good to eat. If your not working, find something to do. Rake leaves, walk your dog, do SOMETHING. The morning are the worst. It's just so hard to get myself motivated as I'm currently unemployed (only been out of rehab a couple months).

But the moral to every story: Don't stick your foot in the fire; applies here i think.
Just remember, it CAN be done, and YOU can do it too. It's really hard, but we all have thickened our skin over the years... So make it happen.
much love and respect, rat

Good job!!!! You're stronger than I am. Been on oxy/percs/roxy for 7 years. At my worst, I was doing over 300 mg per day. Currently, I'm at around 90-120 mg per day and trying to cut down more. I also take 2-4 mg of Xanax every night and 15-45 mg of Adderall during the day. I tried quitting, but I get that exact same feeling where I feel like I will never be happy again. Tried cold turkey. Tried subs. Nada. Even after I get past the physical withdrawals, I still lay in bed all day hating life. (All this is the oxy.... I can quit the Xanax and Adderall just fine... I just can't get out of bed and be functional on oxy, so I take Adderall which makes it impossible to sleep at night which is where Xanax comes in.) I've pretty much given up on it, sad as that may be. Anyway, didn't mean to butt in with my sob story. More of a congrats.

Good job! Please note that the whole "I will never be happy thing," is a common misconception of getting clean. Well, in my experience it is. I thought that, and I am met many people who thought that, and it turns out that over time you realize that you are much happier.

Hope all is well.
