Hey guys,

The title pretty much says it all. I was on about 25-30 mgs of hydrocodone every day for about 3 years, I got off it using kratom for about 5 months. I've been clean (save for alcohol) for about 6 weeks. I have no more WDs, no real desire to use again, but I'm TIRED all the time. I can barely get up and going in the morning. On a beautiful day all I can think about is laying around watching Top Gear. I mean I realize I'm early on in this and I'm thrilled with the fact that I have no WDs and no desire to use again, but my girlfriend is the active sort, has no idea about my prior use or the reason I'm so tired all the time, and I'm just wondering how long I can expect this to last.

Thanks.

Hey david. I also went through the Kratom withdrawal. It will slowly get better day by day. There is no specific answer for "how long". If you're not, eat healthy foods and exercise DAILY. This will literally speed recovery. Cardio and resistance training. This will make a significant difference. With the hydro-c plus kratom habit combined, you are probably looking at over a year before you're back to "baseline". However, if you exercise regularly and aggressively, you'll get yourself back into a position where you're not tired all the time in a month or two. Plus, then you'll be in shape and be passing your gf!

It seems counter-intuitive that the cure for exhaustion is exercise. It's probably the last thing you want to do which naturally makes it the right thing to do... ever notice how junk food always tastes awesome? Everyone loves to opt for the easy road. Unfortunately you tried the easy road via drugs and you can see where it brought you.

Get moving even if at first it's for 30 minutes each day. A body in motion tends to stay in motion. Work yourself in to a routine - replace your unhealthy habits with healthy habits one at a time. Once you begin making progress it will be a self-perpetuating cycle that will lead to increased energy, confidence & self respect.

I'm not just talking out of my ass.. I'm about 70 days opioid-free with normal energy levels. I felt exactly like you until I integrated a exercise routine.

I was dealing with this after 4 weeks of being clean..you literally have to force yourself to get up and walk around the neghiborhood, after a couple weeks it just gets better and better..

That is very very common, it gets better over time but it is fluid, it will be better then worse then better then worse etc. Over time, you will realize that the "worse" times are less and less frequent. Lots of times people want to imagine neurological recovery as linear, its not. That really trips up lots of people.

The alcohol is probably not helping you to be honest. Are you aware of Post Acute Withdrawal Symptoms?

Stick in there OP. I'm pretty much on the same boat (Kratom saved me) and the opiate fog is lifting...slow but sure. Also, I agree wholeheartedly that exercise, water intake and patience are what is needed. I'd say that the alcohol is more of a hindrance to the recovery process though.
