Hi all,
I am trying to decide what I should do about my substance abuse problem, and would love any feedback from anyone who can relate. After having tabbled with vicodin and codeine here and there in the past and coming to the conclusion that no drug can you make you so euphoric and motivated at the same time while killing any emotional or physical pain you may have, I started using lortabs 10/500's everyday regularly 2 years ago, up to 6-7 a day. Then on Sept 19th, 2010 I decided to cold turkey, and haven't had one since. Here's the thing though. I have access to xanax and I used xanax during those first few days of withdrawal to help sleep, but unfortunatey I never stopped taking the xanax. To make matters worse, I have also been taking adderall IR, usually 20mg 2x day since about a week after I quit the hydros. Keep in mind I never did ANY other drug while hooked on vicodin, not until after. (I got adderall script from my PCP who knows nothing about my previous opiate abuse or current xanax use. It's been years since I've been off adderall so I convinced him my ADD symtoms has come back and I need to get back on my meds). I wanted the adderall because I felt like I needed something to give me "boost" since, for some reason, hydrocodone actually had a paradoxically stimulating effect on me, in addition to lifting my mood. Anyway, so tody, 100 days clean off my DOC, I feel like I've replaced one addiction for another, in particular "Stimulant to get me going in the day, and xanax to put me out at bedtime, usually 1 mg". I have been on this regimen for 3 months now. The problem is, after today, I will have no more xanax. What should I do? I don't mind just going completely cold turkey off both the adderall and the xanax at the same time as long as the xanax withdrawal doesn't give me seizure. But surely it won't if I never take it during the day, just for sleep, right? After all it's only been 1mg at bedtiime for 3 months.
