Opioids Quick Question

It doesn't cross the blood brain barrier so i can't see CNS Depressive overdose hapening. It activates the opiate receptors in the gastrointestinal tract though, causeing constipation. Or stopping diarreah. Either way, doesn't seem too dangerous.

Use in Opiate Withdrawal
In high doses, loperamide has been shown to alleviate withdrawal symptoms from opiate dependency. Dose varies based on tolerance, but many people report (at the correct dose for their individual tolerance), total removal of withdrawal symptoms.

More and more people, non-opiate tolerance individuals, who are attempting to take high doses of loperamide to get high, are overdosing and dying. We have had 2 just very recently.

Loperamide should NOT be taken in such high doses unless for the purposes of treating opiate withdrawal symptoms, by individuals with a history of opiate use, and a high tolerance.

The recreational properties of loperamide are almost non-existant. It is not known for it's "high". So, attempting to take enough to cause euphoria is simply incredibly dangerous and lacking any possible reward. This is not a recreational substance.

Do not attempt to ingest high does of loperamide to achieve a high.

Yeah, lyrica is a lot more potent.

I never had wd's, at least anything a couple benzos and a bag of weed couldn't help but lyrica makes so cloudy it is not really practical in a medicinal sense as compared to gabapentin, that is just me though.

A Muscle relaxant with acetaminophen, seems to help.

I agree. I found Imodium if taken safely can really take the edge off. But like others stated it can be very dangerous especially if immaturely used to try to get high. for all of those reading this for other reasons.. YOU WILL NOT GET HIGH FROM IMODIUM. Just really backed up ?
 
Isn't loperamide fairly safe if used in reasonable (i.e. not 200 mg/day) doses? IME it helps a lot even in the 20-30 mg range, which is still a lot of pills, but really reduces the sweats, restlessness and generally awful feeling of opiate withdrawal. You cannot get high off it, and should NOT even try, but when used solely for W/D it can be a lifesaver. It doesn't cross the blood brain barrier long enough to work on the opiate receptors in the brain, but does attach to the ones in your gut, which alleviates W/D's pretty well.

For what it's worth, I never found it terribly constipating either, if I use it for more than a day or so then my body gets used to it and I can go to the bathroom pretty much normally.
