I'm have some subs and want to make the switch from oxy's to suboxone. I'm looking for people's experience in making the switch. I would like to know how many hours from the last opiate dose until you have taken suboxone successfully without precipitated withdrawls?

I went from about a 250 mg per day oxy habit to Suboxone. I took my last oxy dose at 9:00 pm the night before starting subs. The next day I took my first dose of Suboxone at 11:30 am. I was in slight withdrawal but not too bad.

I started with a low dose of Suboxone (about 1 mg) to see how I would react to it. I had no adverse effects so I took 2 more mgs at 3:30 pm and another 1 mg at 9:00 pm. I felt slightly tired from the Suboxone but it took away all my withdrawals.

I was prescribed 16 mgs per day but feel this was WAY to high of a dose in my opinion. I'm on day 5 of Suboxone and have only taken 2-3 mgs per day after that first day. I actually have only taken 1 mg the past day and a half and feel fine. No withdrawals at all. The half life of Suboxone is like 24-36 hrs so I think thats the reason I only need such a small dose.

I'm going to cut my dose down to 0.5 mgs tomorrow and try to taper from there. I hear that it takes 2-3 weeks for the body to become dependent on Suboxone. I may try to just kick opiates all together in the next week if possible.

To answer your question, I went from a 1.5 year oxy habit of 200-300 mgs per day to Suboxone at the dose I outlined above. For me it was a VERY easy transition with no side effects to speak of.

Everyone is different but that was my experience. Hope it helps.

Be careful, I waited until I was in WD (they start at 12hrs) it was hour 15. I still got precip WD. I normally wait 18hrs but last couple times I've been waiting 24. Its just not worth precip WD trust me. Even if you get sick at the 12hr mark and wait til the 18-20 thats only 6-8hrs of being sick..yes I know its hell, believe me. but 6-8hrs of sickness traded for the rest of your life of being clean and no more sickness? Its worth it..Don't jump the gun, precip WD are not worth it. Wait as long as you possibly can. 18hrs is what a majority of the ppl on this board will tell you. This queestion has been asked like 3 times a day since suboxone became known. Next time try using the search.

Also, when you do decide to take the first dose of suboxone, start off with a tiny amount. Take 0.5-1.0 mg to start with and then wait a couple hours to see how it effects you. If you feel ok...then try another 0.5-1.0 mg and so on until you stablize and feel withdrawal free.

Remember...less is more with suboxone.

Thanks, much appreciated. I UTFSE but there are about 2000 pages to read through.

Lol..so pick any one of them and you would have had your answer :P Sorry not tryna be a dick, I'm glad you asked before just doing..but questions that have been asked to death get old around here.

I just want to say being a previously active heroin addict, u literally have to wait soo fucking long into withdrawl its sick. Ive taken 24hours after bam precipitated worst wd ever had to bang 3 packs to get out of the precipitated wd, um the only success ive ever had with suboxone was i was in a mental hospital and i was violently in heroin withdrawl n i was like 50 hours into it having seizures non stop vomitting sweats shakes shits u know like the ten yards fuck the nine, and a nurse was like hey u want some help cause i was sitting on the floor shaking n puking on myself i kept saying no no no it doesnt work ill get sicker, n she was like naw fuck that ur super sick over 48 hours n need it now n precided to give me 8mg n then like idk 10-20 min later i was good. BUTTTTT heres the kicker i only took it the 7 days i was in the mental hospital, when i got out, i went into WD for then next 6 weeks.
