I am new to the site and while I have read the rules I remain blond and confused. I am dealing with metastasis into my bones from breast cancer. Pain pills make the difference in quality of life for me. However, my ability to absorb medication is altered due to a gastric bypass. My Dr. is putting me on the patch and that seems to be a great help. I am going to the Dr.s this week and due to a new affliction of gout, I have gone through my pain meds too soon. Can my Dr. change the quantity of drugs to get around the "too soon" refill situation? I am on the highest dosage of Noco, Oxy, and dulidid. I will be able to get the patch as he started me off on a low dose so I am sure since it seems to be affective he will raise the dose at my request, but I do not wish to just have that for a week and a half.

Hi cancermama,

This is the New Member Introductions Forum which is intended as place to say hi, write an intro, and be welcomed by other site members. It isn't really appropriate for serious drug questions like this but a mod will be able to move it to the correct forum for you :)

Regarding your situation just tell your doctor the truth that you had to take more pills than prescribed in order to handle your pain. They will be able to update your prescription for the proper dosage, or if it was just a temporary situation due to the new affliction, write a one time script to tide you over until your previous one is due for a refill.

Best of luck and welcome to Bluelight!
