Questions about Phenibut

So I've seen this drug mentioned various times throughout the forum, and I am a little curious. I've mostly heard of people using it to get over the comedowns of other drugs. I looked it up and understood very little of what I read, I'm not very familiar with -tropic drugs or what GABA does for you. Forgive me if I come off as lazy for asking the forum, but in my experience I've gotten nothing but very helpful advice here.

On the plus side, I see that you can easily buy it from a drug store or online. Basically what I'm asking is: what is the high like? Is it safe (especially when combined with other drugs)?

I think most people would agree that Phenibut is a pretty crappy drug for recreational purposes.
The high is pretty subtle but the side effects aren't, tolerance development is extremely rapid and rebound anxiety can occur after just a few days use.
I'd stay far away if your goal is to get high.

Don't get me wrong, I love Phenibut and I've used it every now and then for the last 3 years or so without any problems or tolerance development but I use it in low doses for theraputical reasons only.

It works great for some people, while others don't get much from it. If you have anxiety issues then it's worth a shot but it's important to understand what you're doing, why you're doing it and how you're going to do it without running into trouble.

What you would be doing isn't treating your anxiety but covering it up. It will only get better when you're actually on the drug with the possiblity of having even worse anxiety on your off days. Phenibut seems to be somewhat unpredictable in this department and experiences with rebound anxiety differs greatly between different people. As in, some don't notice any increase in anxiety after 3 days of use while others only need one dosage to make matters worse the next day.

It also works as a pretty effective anti-depressive drug for some people, myself included but I definately wouldn't go as far as labeling it "good for overall mental health" - healthy foods, exercise, sufficient sleep, meditation, yoga and such are the things that belong in that department, not one drug comes to mind (psychedelics have the potential but it's pretty far from a safe bet like the above mentioned stuff).

If you're going to try it, then I would encourage you to make up some rules for yourself very early on in your Phenibut adventure so that you don't end up regretting it in the future. Keep in mind that those who regret trying it most often do so big time! The withdrawals are insane and it takes only a week or two of use to get physical addicted.

As a frame of reference, this is my own rules.

Max dosage 1500 mg (most of the time 700-1200 is enough)

Never use two days in a row

A maximum of one dosage a week

Take 2-4 weeks off every now and then.

Don't mix with alcohol (some people do so without problems if the dosages are adjusted accordingly )

If combined with benzos or other GABA-A PAM/agonist, dosages should be adjusted accordingly)

Following these rules or something similar should keep you safe from harm. Be aware though, that even with a set of well defined rules, you could still run into trouble. Addiction can happen regardless of the steps you take in order to prevent it.

self medicating with phenibut for anxiety etc is short lived
tolerance quickly builds and the withdrawal that one can exp isnt worth the short time of relief you get

^ I get what you're saying but actually, it doesn't have to be that way. With occasional use it's very much possible to keep up the anxiolytic effects without tolerance development and addiction. You have to know what you're doing though, it's not easy but both benzos and Phenibut has been of great help to me in this department and I don't have much of a tolerance and no withdrawals when not using.
I've been using benzos for 4-5 years and Phenibut for 3 years, no problem.
I do realise that I'm a minority though, most people do run into trouble sooner or later and who knows, it might be my turn in a few years.

Me personally I'm just tired of anxiety getting in my way. I've tried benzos, but I'm not convinced that they are worth the risk. I do exercise on a mostly regular basis and try to eat right, and I do plan on keeping a strict set of guidelines for this supplement much like I did with benzos.

Also, I smoke weed on the regular. Idk if this is conducive or not, but I just thought I'd mention it. I know it's generally safe to combine weed with almost anything. Better safe than sorry.

Thank you guys for the advice, keep it coming.

actually i guess i'm a minority also i have plenty of benzos to choose from but i only use them as needed for the past 7 months
not addicted, no complications nor do i crave them
agree not everyone is the same, not everyone has the same will power i guess like you and i
i look at any medication i have like tylenol only use it when i need it not just because
but if the op can control things have at it
but there is plenty of reviews on here saying although phenibut does in deed work that tolerence quickly builds and that the withdrawals are awful
i actually considered taking phenibut myself at one point but to me the cons outweigh the pros
this is my own $0.02
but if the op does decide to use phenibut be safe and use in moderation

THIS!!!! I've never found Phenibut to do anything besides cause rebound anxiety almost as intense as high dose alprazolam rebounding. Stay away from this garbage.
