Take a look at benzobuddies.org for more info, there are people who have taken .5mg or 1mg for a few weeks per month who got withdrawal too. Benzo withdrawal is horrible because even if you successfully taper and stop taking them, you can have withdrawal symptoms for 6-18 months. They say you will see the biggest improvement within the first 6-12 months. I'm in it now after a 2 year slow taper of xanax, got slammed with tolerance withdrawal in Jan '12 and just finished 4.5 months ago.
