I recently was required to submit urine/blood for analysis and drug screening, in order to obtain a prescription of Ritalin. I passed with flying colors and my psychiatrist showed me the results on her computer, which listed maybe 15 or 20 different numbers relating to various bodily functions (such as kidneys, liver, T cells, glucose, etc.). She proceeded to write me the prescription, then gave me the somewhat disturbing news that I would be required to take a drug test every so often as a precaution. She said the tests would probably be administered every few months or so. Her slight vagueness on the future testing times makes me feel like I should be prepared to issue clean urine every time i see her (once a month).

I really like to smoke weed. My question is: Given that my psychiatrist already has a detailed analysis of my urine, if I were to use a friend's clean urine on these future tests, would it be evident due to discrepancies in the details of our urine analysis'?

The freeze and thaw method makes me uneasy for some reason. I would rather use a friend's fresh squeezed if possible. I don't know much about these things, but it looks like they use a fairly sophisticated testing system. I've read some people claiming that the newest tests are better able to detect freeze and thaws. I haven't been able to find any discussion about whether they compare the consistency of new samples with previous samples to ensure they came from the same person. I understand that they would expect certain things to possibly fluctuate (like glucose), but am worried something might give away my deception. Anyways, I know nothing about this stuff, so I'll shut up and let someone who knows something speak.

Thanks for taking the time to read and respond.

Drug testing questions aren't allowed here. Please read the guidelines.

Edit; That is why you hasn't found any discussion on it here.

Can someone kindly direct me to the proper place to post my question? I've been reading FAQ, various forum guidelines, etc for about 15 minutes and can't figure it out. A couple of the rule listings stated this topic was disallowed because every question had been answered before... I think that is really short-sighted considering testing methods are advancing more rapidly than at any point in history. In other words, what was true yesterday might not be true today. I do understand it must get really annoying to see the same questions asked again and again, but I don't think this qualifies as "didn't search before posting" question. Anyways, just let me know where I should post it so I can delete it and re-post.

Apparently, it was decided back in 2006 that EVERY question about drug testing had been answered, so the Drug Testing Q&A forum was closed. I wish the drug testing labs had got that memo. I literally haven't posted anything in years (more of a search and read kind of guy), but after scouring the internet for more than an hour, I decided to stop being lazy and actually register and post my question. Ah, the irony..

If I knew the answer to your question, I'd tell you before closing this, but I don't., my guess would be that what your doctor did was pull a scare tactic. The idea that she'd use urinalysis doesnt seem crazy, but that a regular doctor would have extremely intense anylyzation other patients urine seems sort of peculiar as even at most addiction treatment centers I've been too, they just give out those cheap-ass piss tests that make Effexor show up as PCP all the time.

Anyway, I'm sorry but I do have to close this. on the bright side, you're not heavily addicted to something like heroin which would be a lot harder to stop using for the sake of being urine tested to get a Methylphenidate script.
