Hey,

I have a prescription refill (written) for Methylphenidate (Ritalin), and on the prescription it says "Fill on or after 12/31/14".
I will be out of town that week, and was wondering if any pharmacy would fill early? My doctor's office is closed, of course, because of the holiday.

The pharmacist I normally go to, yesterday, said we'd have to talk to the physician in order to fill earlier than the stated date.

Do you think I'd have to wait until the doctor's office reopens? (Not sure if it's Friday, or Monday). Or should I try to go to another pharmacy?

I've read places that pharmacies are allowed to fill early if going on vacation.

I have state insurance btw.

Well we can't really help you acquire drugs, even if they are by prescription. Does your doctor have someone covering for him or an emergency number? He should.

If the pharmacy won't fill it early without your doctor's permission, you'll have to wait. Going to another pharmacy isn't good idea because with controlled meds, you will likely run into the same problem. I would call the doctor's office on Friday and plead your case. I have to close this.
