is color change, or really shade change and vision blurring a sign of progression in meditation?

or can this be induced by long term focusing of the eyes? something like a magic eye if you have ever done one

im not familiar with the "magic eye", but would say you are progressing by finding a deeper relaxed state then you are accustomed to - which is the point for most people. so I would say you are on the right track, and excelling it seems because of this.

Well that depends on what you aim to achieve in meditation. If you want blurry vision, well then you must be doing something correctly! If not, then I'm afraid you'll have to keep trying.

I know the colour change you're talking about. I've heard various things. I'm very sensitive to energy changes so I am inclined to think that what I am staring at is my own energy field. I have read studies that demonstrate when your eyes are closed for a long time and you enter a meditative state, one's peripheral vision is enhanced greatly upon opening the eyes. If you talk to psychics and energy workers (actual ones, and not new age hippie dippies), it is in peripheral vision where observation of phenomenon tends to occur.

they are opened when i do this
when i meditate i expect nothing and dont really think of achieving anything.

daikymo, that makes a lot of sense
i stare until i do not focus on anything and my peripherals seem to take over, after long term staring causing these shade changes and strange visuals of whats around me, completely loosing certain spots becoming blurry. i meditate in the shower while laying down and sometimes cant see my feet for small moments of time

You may be experiencing sensory adaptation. When you don't budge your eyes in any direction and sit still staring at a fixed point, your eyes become saturated by the unchanging income of information and thus go blank. It's like entering a home and noticing it has a certain smell, but after a couple minutes the smell becomes normal and you can't tell it's present anymore. At least I think this is what you're referring to, and I've had my peripherals disappear around a central point of focus if I stare long and hard enough.
