With the whole medical marijuana thing you guys have out there in Cali, how easy is it to smoke weed legally?
What are the steps you have to do to get the RX written and actually purchase the pot?

I am very interested as I might be moving out to CA in the next year.

Well it's not an Rx so much as it is a recommendation because the Dr.s aren't allowed to prescribe it per se. That aside it's pretty easy to get bud without the recommendation. Not to knock on you personally as I don't know you or any ailments that you may or may not have, but it kinda sucks to see people using the system just to be able to smoke "legally". I think if it is used too much for semi-legit or fraudulent cases it may ruin the system for people who actually utilize it for what it's supposed to be utilized for. Maybe not though, just my opinion.

long story short though you get your medical records from your PCP and then bring them to a "MJ Friendly" doctor who will see you for a fee and then give you a recommendation.

For more info see http://www.cdph.ca.gov/programs/MMP/Pages/Medical Marijuana Program.aspx

Really Google is going to be your friend on this one.

As long as you don't have any pre existing medical condition (cardiac problems or some shit) that would make you a bad candidate for medical cannabis they will most definitely give you a presciption for whatever the fuck you say you have. the classic standby is insomnia but anything works, one of my friends used anxiety (kinda ridiculous to say that pot would help with that =D) one used backpain, however I stuck with insomnia I think thats really the best bet.
The referral fee will be between 90 and 140 dollars. The two best known referral clinics in my area (the bay area) are MediCann and Green Reliefe, a quick google search of either of those will give you the rest of the info that you will need.

good luck-neverstop

Just a little info, if you plan on living in northern or southern ca you shouldn't have problems getting access to dispensaries. Yet, if you live where I live, in central cal, be prepared to travel about 100+ miles to reach a dispensary.

I'm going to have to disagree with this, and so would my doctor. the doctors that provide recommendations do want to hand out these to whoever benefits from it. I don't think there are "semi-legit" reasons for using cannabis. last time i went to see him, he was telling me that any woman with PMS symptoms can benefit from cannabis use... people with depression... back pain... anxiety... insomnia... narcolepsy... eating disorders... spiritual reasons... as long as you couple that with a desire for alternative medicine (don't want pills). He was very adamant about cannabis use and spreading it to as many people as possible in order to further the "cause"

as long as you can show your doctor that you benefit from the use of cannabis and that you would be helped even more by removing legal burdens, they will be happy to recommend you.

I was speaking more to the people who get a migraine once a year. I would hate to see the whole thing shut down because of people like that. I do see what you're saying though, point taken. :)

Im moving to LA for solely medicinal weed..

yeah its expensive but the selection of assortments is ridiculous and strains!

I cant wait

Why are Cali and one other state (can't remember it) the only Med MJ states that have dispensories?

Don't go to MediCann they dont give out info so when your club calls to confirm they will say,"They aren't at liberty to say."

There are like 2 clubs and couple of deliverey services in Fresno and one of my dealers said hes gonna try to open up a store here soon. But a lot of people smoke and sell so its never dry.

ever.

well, you should know that the majority of weed sold both in dispenseries and 'illegitimately' is of 'medicinal' quality, and usually comes from the same independently grown sources.

you simply can't get anything less than high grade chronic in ca....
