Question about taking buprenorphine and dihydrocodeine

i'm on bupe maintenance and I find myself plateau-ing (which is apparently how it's supposed to work). When I say 'plateau-ing' I mean not feeling anything from bupe except it is obviously combatting my WD symptoms (just). I have been finding myself using small amounts of codeine, which does little - but from what I've researched, that's understandable and also potentially dangerouse because you don't feel high but you can OD? and it doesn't feel like it? or you tend to binge because you can feel anything and then - surprise! you OD?

Certainly the early days of Bupe were overwhelming. I've found this thread because I am searching for answers about rikodeine, which I have just taken: 100mls, with about 100mg of restavit - it's pretty much the only thing I had lying around that I thought may do something (could way off the mark there but never the mind). I'm also still in bupe treatment but dose every second day - and haven't dosed today. I'd like to know if anyone has had any experience with combining the two like I am right now (as bupe has a long life and still in my system). So far - I'm feeling the usual - nothing. Perhaps another disapointment for me. Any feedback that is constructive would be good. regards, coopie

Hi Coopie, welcome to BL and BDD!

Have moved your post into it's own thread as that is how we generally try to do things in BDD, instead of adding it to old threads. Hope that's okay! Have given it my own title but feel free to change it if you like (but try to keep it clear what your thread is about)

Any questions, pm me!

Don't combine the two. Buprenorphine completely blocks your opiate receptors therefor you won't be able to feel the effects of the dihydrocodeine. Also if you take the buprenorphine too soon after your dosing you'll go into precipitated withdrawals which absolutely suck. In my opinion worse than regular withdrawals. You'll need to wait at least 12 hours (preferably 24 hours) before taking your Suboxone after the codeine.
