question about polyethylene glycol

Ok so im really backed up I havent pooed in a few days. I have a bottle of polyethylene glycol I got by prescription about a year ago. Now on the back of the bottle it says take every 24 hours but the pharmacy slapped a sticker on the bottle saying take every 2 hours until the stool passes. Im not sure which one I should do. does anyone have any experience with this stuff?

well your situation is not hte same as it was back then...or is it? Use the bottles label, not the sticker fyi.

You can call any 24 hour pharmacy (or any pharmacy if it's during business hours) whether or not you're a customer there, and ask them questions about dosage and drug interactions. The pharmacist will be able to advise you on this, especially if it was prescribed to you.

Titrate your dose up if you're not certain, but PEG is pretty safe. Obviously, talking to an IRL doc or pharmacist would be better than random internet folks though.

Cool thanks for the replys I decided to play it safe and follow the directions on the bottle. I know its wierd geting advised on health questions by random people on the internet but I just know the people here have a wealth of real life experience that I personally think trumps what some pharmacist could tell me over the phone. But your point is well taken Dave.

Glad it's working out for you! I'd trust a trained professional over anonymous randoms, but it's not like you're asking if it's safe to mix two obscure meds or something. Worse comes to worse and you take too much too quickly, and you'll have a bad case of slippery shits for a day or so (is my guess).
