So I got Natrol Omega 3 Fish Oil capsules the other day. It says:

Omega 3 Fish Oil: 1,000mg
EPA: 180mg
DHA: 120mg

I've been reading online and I am confused. How much exactly Omega 3s I have here? Is it 1,000mg or 300mg ? How many of the pills am I safe to take?

The package says recommended daily is 2 capsules per day.

Each pill contains 1,000mg of fish oil. Within that 1g of oil is 180mg EPA and 120mg DHA. There are other omega 3 fats, as well as other components of fish oil, which is what the remainder of the pill is.

edit - really guys? 44 views before someone finally helps :\

Ok, I really should have replied. I do apologise OP, I got side-tracked after reading something else right after and forgot, but really, in all honesty, I don't see what the OP really needs us to tell him?

Of 1000mg of Fish Oil, 180mg is EPA and 120mg is DHA.
Follow the instructions and take 2 a day.

I don't really see what was so confusing about that pal! The Essential Fatty Acid's EPA and DHA are 2 components of Fish Oil and thus the amounts stated are the amounts of each in the total volume of the cap, ie. 1000mg.
Just follow what it says on the tin and you'll be golden, my friend!

Wee piece of advice is you should perhaps should research the source of these oils....some can be of questionable quality.

All the best

OK thanks. So basically I am getting 600mg (EPA+DHA) daily. I read somewhere that you need at least 1,000mg (EPA+DHA) daily?

Most studies showing beneficial effects have used at least 1 g DHA + EPA a day, and I think the majority were at 2-3 g DHA + EPA per day.
