60 mg of Valium is a stupid dose.
Benzos are pretty safe, in short-term use.
But such a high dose could really cause some rebound anxiety the next day!
The effect on the GABA receptors causes a suppression of glutamate in the brain.
This is the primary excitatory neurotransmitter in the brain, causing neurons to increase activity.
If glutamate reaches high enough levels, it cannot be removed from the neurons quickly enough.
This leads to apoptosis, or cellular death through increased metabolic activity.
Regular use of benzos is VERY dangerous, as glutamate levels actually go up.
When the suppression is withdrawn, these levels can be VERY toxic.
Not only do people experience extreme anxiety, sometimes panic, or even rage...
But they frequently feel chest pain and suspect a heart-attack!
This is probably due to glutamate toxicity of the hypothalamus.
While quite dangerous, the hypothalamus has also been documented to regrow neurons after glutamate damage.
Benzos now account for more ER visits than illegal drugs!
Taking such a large amount of Valium is asking for trouble, whether rolling or not.
One day you will pay a dear price.
And since glutamate toxicity is suspected to play a role in MDMA toxicity, it is an unwise combination.
It is not during the roll that really concerns me.
It is the 2-3 days afterwards, when you are withdrawing from the Valium.
Having Piracetam around would be very wise.
And yes - the Valium is going to fuck up your roll.
It is an opposing force, and you will probably waste a pill.
Uppers and downers really don't combine.
However, benzos are very useful in cases of ACUTE reactions to MDMA.
They lower the 'toxic' levels of glutamate immediately, and they prevent the tremors that play a role in the dreaded fever reaction.
I think all people rolling should have access to a benzo, just in case.
The only other methods used in hospitals to treat MDMA users is lowering body temperature quickly and giving a saline IV.
Maybe a serotonin antagonist...
But yeah - fuck the Valium man.
Stretch those out for god's sake.
