Question about 1st time roxycodone experience

Hi all, first time poster but have come here for info quite a few times. Anyway, I tried roxycodone for the first time the other day. Had one of the blue IR 30s and broke into quarters and just took 7.5 mg orally. I was coming off a pretty aggressive vodka binge (had not drank in about 20 hours though at the time I took the quarter of a pill). Anyway, I thought this should calm me down and make me less anxious, but instead kind of amped me up and seemed to make my muscles more tense, palms sweating, panicky, etc. Probably wouldn't have been quite as strange feeling if I hadn't been w/ding from booze. At certain times it actually felt like I was going to have a seizure (which I know can be an effect of alcohol w/ds, but I really think the roxy had something to do with it.) I've never felt like I was that close to a seizure in my life, even after liquor binges. Anyway, my question is has anyone else had a similar experience? Does anyone know whether roxy's can affect people in weird-ass ways like that? It could all be in my head, as I am prone to anxiety anyway, but would just like to know what people think. Also, is the active ingredient in Roxycodone the same as the one in Percocets, just without the acetaminophen?

I understood the purpose of "Homeless threads" to be for people not sure where to place their posts, so hopefully this is correct.
Thanks!

you were hungover I assume and took an opiate for the first time, not surprised you felt like shit. A lot of people feel nauseous the first time they take it even just being sober.

the active ingredient is oxycodone which is the same thing as in percocets only without the APAP, you are correct in that.

I've never felt like I was going to have a seizure but I wouldn't combine opiates with any other drug or any recent drug use because it is somewhat expected to have uneasy feelings in the beginning.

also, oxy can make certain people feel somewhat more stimulated than other opiates like heroin, take enough of it though and that all stops real quick.

Understood, and thanks for the reply, shimazu. Yes I was hungover quite badly. I had taken a Norco 10/325 in similar situations in the past and it calmed me down, which is why I thought the OC may work. This was only my first time with OC, but yes either way it was a new substance to me (not really sure if being used to hydros translate in any way to Roxys, tolerance-wise?) Probably not judging on what happened lol. I know a benzo would have been much better suited for that (instead of the roxy, of course) but unfortunately that wasn't an option for me this particular time. All makes sense what you said though, thanks again.

im the last person whos gonna come down on someone for going overboard to solve relatively minor annoyances with enough drugs to forget about it so like dont feel guilty or anything. A lot of people use or have used opiates, its just a matter of getting over those first few awkward times before you start to get a feel for what to expect and what to not freak out about.

although to be honest I would stay away from oxycodone, stay away from IR shit so you cant abuse it because thats what gets people hooked. If hydrocodone works good to keep you from freaking out I wouldn't try and force the issue with oxy because why mess with whats not broken

Oh, I didn't feel like you were coming down on me at all. Thanks for the info, and yea I don't plan on trying OC again. Doesn't seem to be my thing at all :)

Roxi's are like the Jackpot ofr me.....But ya there where a lot of varibals in your situation that prolly made you feel that way.

Jacked up post alcohol binge guts are really nauseating to begin with.

Adding opiates certainly didn't help.

I hope you didn't let this lesson let you down about opiates...

sonicwhite - Yea, the hangover is what I'm thinking caused most of the discomfort I was feeling in this instance. I was already anxious from the hangover, and combine that with the fact that I didn't know exactly what to expect from OC and it makes perfect sense to me why I reacted the way I did, as you and others have already said. I tried another 7.5mg of it about 3 days after I was done drinking and it was far less uncomfortable but just wasn't pleasurable really at all. I felt a weird "rush" but none of the things most people enjoy about opiates (warm, fuzzy, euphoric, in a womb type feelings) happened. I think OC just affects me in an abnormal way for whatever reason. I do hear ya on them being "jackpots," and I know there are no shortage of people who feel the same way.

Psychedelic Jay - Nah, it hasn't totally turned me off of opiates at all. Just most likely won't be trying OC again as I really feel like it affects me abnormally. I love hydrocodone actually, particularly Norco 10's. First time I tried those, it was awesome. As far as the OC is concerned though, one of these two things are happening:

1) I am just not "used" to OC enough and need to expose my system to it more before it will become pleasurable to me. (Which I am definitely not doing, especially when Norcos felt great to me right from the start with zero tolerance.)

or

2) I am having an abnormal reaction to OC and should not take it anymore anyway.

I just seem to be a person who OC doesn't create pleasurable effects for, and I know that now. No worries, I'll just stick to Hydro as far as opiates go =D

Yeah, it could have been a bit more than I needed. However, I never even came close to nausea either time and the second time wasn't unpleasant at all; just didn't get off from it. I know for a fact now that the reason for my quasi-freak-out on the very first time I took it was due to having a wicked hangover because the second time (3 days later) there was no discomfort whatsoever, but also not really any noticeable opiate effects. I mean if I am taking too much at 7.5mg, it can't be that much more than whatever the ideal amount would be for me and I would think I should still have felt somewhat close to being high. Who knows man...lol. At this point, I would say it's just as likely that I didn't take enough. Maybe at some point I'll revisit OC and it will be a totally different story. For now I'm in agreement with shimazu in that if hydrocodone is doing it for me, why continue trying to finagle something out of a much more volatile substance? At those prices, the OC better be doing all the "finagling" for me %). But seriously, I put in my due diligence and researched some threads on what a good starting dose would be for someone with no tolerance. The lowest suggestion I saw was 5mg and the highest was 30mg. The general consensus seemed to be that about 7.5mg was right where someone would want to be at for a first recreational dose with no tolerance. Obviously everybody reacts differently and I could just be hyper-freakin'-sensitive to it or something. I do remember reading somewhere else on this site about the OC being about 1.5-2x hydros though, so I won't say it's impossible that I was taking too much. Maybe if I decide for there to be a next time, I'll try just 5mg and see what happens.
Thanks for the feedback Benwise!

Kind of a strange update, but I tried a percocet 7.5/325 not too long ago and it felt almost identical to a norco 10/325. Probably a bit stronger and definitely lasted longer than the norco though. Had a good warm and fuzzy, then kind of itchy feeling (I love the itchy part actually). It was a very nice experience. I dunno, maybe the IR 30's I tried were really old or something was wrong with them in some way.

I do too, although they (usually) relax me at the same time. Kind of a paradoxical effect for me. I'll be relaxed and feel at ease, but I'm probably not going to sleep for a few hours lol.

Hmmmm....That is strange. I know everybody is different but the blue oxi's roxk for me......I have to be careful with them because they latch like a leach.

IME the roxi blues arent as enjoyable as just plain old perc 5s or 10s , not sure why, they've actually made me throw up a couple times, not fun..lol

^Well they are 30 mg, and the others are 5 and 10. So its a lot more, gonna make you sick if you have a low tolerance.

Yea i take pills quite a bit but i prob still have a low to moderate tolerance, but even w the 30s i usually only take a half, never taken a whole one at once, and still seem to get sick off them, yet i can take 4 or 5 perc 5s at once and be fine, idk its weird.. ive only gotten sick off the 30s a couple times tho not every time ive taken em (although the amount of times taken isnt a lot)
