Pyschedelic English Paper

I am needing to write a Toulmin-style proposal paper for ENG 102. I'd like to choose something interesting to me, pertaining to psychedelics. I have written a paper about psychedelic psychotherapy, and I found it very challenging as it required a lot of knowledge about psychology, therapy, mental illnesses and in the psychedelic realm: the many types of drugs used, the techniques, legality issues, etc etc. I'd rather specify more on this paper.

So if anyone has any interesting ideas about using psychedelics to solve a specific social issue, please feel free to share. I'm not looking for anything outrageous like having psychedelic classes in high school, public DMT demonstrations or something like that. :) I'm looking for something that is fairly realistic that could possibly be implemented in the near future.

It needs to be an actual social issue that is generally agreed upon as a problem, and then have a proposal for its solution.

Whether or not I use any of the ideas, I am looking for some inspiration from experienced psychonauts. I am especially interested in using psychedelics as a way to connect people back to this planet and thus increase their concern for its welfare.

Thanks for any help!! <3

I would read your report if you wrote it on Ibogaine. Still not too much info on this one. LOTS of potential though.

I agree, although there is probably more info out there than you think.

In terms of treating certain types of heavy addiction, ibogaine has shown some serious potential and it is certainly not in the realm of public DMT usage :p

I'd say check out MAPS.org. They're doing a lot of interesting research at the moment, including MDMA for PTSD patients. LSD & psilocin for helping terminal patients deal with end of life anxiety, and behavior modification (especially in the realm of addiction) therapy with Ibogaine, peyote/mescaline, and ayahuasca. There's also some medicinal studies of cannabis they've also funded. All round good site, just browse there for a while and you should find an interesting paper topic

A great topic for a paper would be the use of psylocibin and LSD in the treatment of cluster headaches. My friend uses mushrooms for his cluster headaches and if he is experiencing cluster headaches a single dose will make the headaches go away. If he does them before his cluster headache cycle begins, he skips the entire cycle!

MAPS is also doing research, but I couldn't find the exact link. If you search on:

you'll find more information on cluster headaches and psychedelics.

I would go for either cluster headaches and things like mushrooms being one of the only real ways to make them stop.

Ibogain and its potential in fighting addiction.

MDMA for PTSD, you could read back into the MDMA assisted marriage counseling, generally just do it on MDMA assisted psychotherapy.

You probably won't find a lot of information but there were some LSD studies done ages ago involving schizophrenics, several repeated high doses of LSD ended up significantly reducing symptoms and in a couple of cases if i recall correctly the patients displayed no schizophrenic qualities.

The first paper i wrote in my psychology class was how LSD changed my life, and turned me into a much more optimistic individual.

Don't you think that it would be best for you to come up with your own ideas for your college assignments?

^ He has, he's asking for peoples thoughts on the exact topic. Asking for ideas as generally as he's doing is a perfectly normal thing for someone writing a paper to do...at least from my university experience where my professors would actively encourage it.

The cluster headache thing would be the easiest to approach I'd guess, simply because there is fairly concrete evidence supporting it. Ipogaine therapy for addiction sounds a lot more interesting though...
