Purple only and no black?

I have the basic EZ test. One bottle. I've got a tab here that I shaved a piece off of, and I crushed it up into a powder. Dropped some of the solution on to the bathroom counter, and pushed the scoop of powder over into the drop. It was kinda a big drop, not sure if that matters. Maybe size of a dime. Anyway, it turned purple, not really light or dark, just purple. But there was no black at all. It seems every test I've seen it always turns black in the pressence of MDMA. Took about 10-15 seconds for it to spread all throughout the drop. Not sure if thats slow or not. The tabs taste REALLY bitter, but I know thats not a good indication. Anyone help? There was no black at all, but it did get nice and dark purple after a bit. They were pretty big drops of tester on there though. It was the Marquis reagent.

One more thing, the drop wasnt soaking up all the powder very well, so I kinda pushed the powder around in the drop a little bit, and went good and purple then. Also there were some small bubbles.

EmptyWallet: It sounds like you may be using the Marquis reagent. The color change you are describing usaully indicates that your pill contains DXM (Unless you stored your reagent in the refrigerator). By the way, if your reagent bottle has a white sticker, it is Marquis, red is for Mecke.

I don't really think based on what I said means there is DXM in them. MDMA from what I can read on here makes bubbles when reacting. It turns the powder purple really fast, it just takes awhile to spread through the whole drop. There was no smoke. I'm not sure that means there is DXM in the tab. Anyone help?

EmptyWallet: I think phiber's name says it all - fibber! With Marquis, DXM will smoke and turn a SLOW grey to black. I have never experienced a DXM reaction, but have read that if you ever encounter one, you will realise the difference between it and a standard MDxA reaction.
The reaction you have reported - to purple over 10-15sec - sounds like a fairly average MDxA reaction. MDxA will not always go to black, I'm told a good MDMA or MDxA pill will test up dark/royal blue or purple. As for the time, 10-15sec, in my experience I would say that was a fairly slow reaction. Actually, you've stated that it was 15 sec for the entire sample to turn purple?? That sounds alright - I usually measure the initial reaction/colour change (not until the entire sample has changed colour) which can take 1-5sec. If often can take 30-45 seconds for the entire sample to change colour.
Bubbling can occur from the binder/filler that is used in the manufacture of pills - nor a good or bad thing.
It is also good to swirl the sample around as it is reacting, so you can get as much of the sample reacting as possible, always looking for tinges of different colours which may indicate the pill being mixed wth multiple substances.
If I were you, I would not worry at all - it sounds like you have a decent MDxA pill. However if you would like to go into some further detail regarding testing, consider purshasing a Mandeline, or X-treme tester - then you can cross-reference your results with the Marquis reagent.

As for bitter tasting pills not being good - I have never heard that before!

Hope I was able to help.

Yeah it was 10-15 seconds for the whole bubble to turn puprle. Not just any part of it, it changed purple right away in some areas. When I swirled it around it changed it all, and had some small bubbles. I never meant to say the bitter meant bad, that usually means there is something in it as MDMA taste horrible. Thanks for the help eroks, anyone else have any replies?

Emptywallet; I was just informed this morning that a light purple reaction to the Marquis reagent could also indicate the presence of Methamphetamines. This argument is backed up by www.ecstasytestdata.org goto that page and check the 15th pill from the top (A rolex) which had a reaction of light purple and lab test show it contained methamphetamine
