purity: mdma rocks vs ecstasy pills?

I've read up that typical mdma rocks is actually "mdma hydrochloride" and not freebase. And that's the purest you can buy rocks is 84%, the other 16% being the HCl to keep it stable. Therefore a gram of your top shelf Molly rocks is 840mg of mdma. My question is if this applies to ecstasy pills too? When one buys an ecstasy pill that has 200mg of mdma, is it 200mg of mdma FREEBASE, or 200mg of MDMA hydrochloride (therefore 168mg.)

The theory your quoting is incorrect. There's a TON of threads discussing it and the way your looking at dosing is wrong. No one doses freebase MDMA as it is hazardous for human consumption. So if your 100mg of MDMA.hcl 84% is 100% pure then you have 100mg. Not 84.

We seriously just had a thread discussing this. The MDMA in pills is also MDMA.HCl so there's no difference at all. Pills never have freebase MDMA in them.

All MDMA you see will be a salt. I dont understand why this idea keeps coming up recently salts have always been a bonding of two ions.
