Purifying Coke

Ok, I read the coke FAQ, but I could use a little more help.
Mix 1/2 gram powdered white coke w/ 1/2 ml distilled water in test tube. Get nice yellow clear liquid. Heat test tube in warmest water I can put my finger in and not get burned. Add about 2/3ml clear ammonia and get white stuff on top. Next I shook the test tube (should I have?)
I get hard yellow rock at bottom of tube within a minute, clear colorless liquid in tube, and white little pieces all around the inside of the tube. I assume yellow rock at bottom is coke freebase.
Put rock in new tube with 31.45% muriatic acid and shake. Rock does not dissolve well in muriatic acid. I shake hard and long and now I have a yellow liquid with some white flakes.
Questions: So should I just dry out the yellow liquid and dump the flakes? How do I get all the muriatic acid out? What was the white stuff around the tube? Did I totally mess up? One more thing, according to my dictionary, cocaine is colorless and odorless. I thought it was yellow and smelled like.. coke.. no?

I bet those white flakes were freebase cocaine, and the 'yellow rock' was impurities.
When you shook the yellow rock and got some more white flakes, those were probably your coke hcl flakes.
 
Where did you read cocaine was colorless and odorless? That really really amuses me.

I keep reading that pure cocaine should be colorless or white. So could someone tell me why I always see good coke as yellow?
