psytrance vs. rave culture

Aaaah psy trance is shite just boring & repetative, listen to some real trippy shit try Chasing Shadows - Dr Sin or The Widdler - Go Ask Alice 100% more intense and more mind blowing than psy any day

I love dubstep for sure, but man I feel like its going for something completely different than psy. And frankly psy is no more or less repetitive than any other genre. Genre elitism is a fucking joke, 99 percent of electronic music PERIOD is shit, bland, samey, only a tiny percentage manages to transcend this, psy/dubstep and otherwise.

I like some good Goa and Psytrance. I also like some raw amen jungle, some techno, a little bit of house, dubstep when it's done right, mid tempo breakbeat stuff, hardcore, gabber... the list goes on. Because I'm a raver.

I'd say a lot more than one percent of it is good. There is a lot of good stuff out there. The funny thing is, unless your talking about way out-there irrational meters, all music, electronic or otherwise is repetetive. Repetition is a part of typical musical structure. Some stuff is more syncopated than other stuff, but most electronic dance music is largely symetrical, and therefore repetitive in some way or another.

im into both the raving (indoor hardcore, hardstyle etc), aswell as the doofing culture.
if i were pick a dominant one (for me) it would definitely have to be doofing.
although you will come across some idiots at them, it is most of the time a much more chilled and spaced out environment compared to your common indoor rave...
i think, the psytrance + psychedelic combo outrules the pill/amphetamine + rave combo by a mile.. however everybody and their opinions are different.

the same reason I grew out of rock

People doing acid at parties that don't play psytrance isn't unheard of. In fact, psy scenes don't really exist everywhere. In some places people are all "what-trance?". I can assure you there are plenty of ravers who would rather avoid speed.

I always found the Psy scene much more positive and creative than the "free party" scene in the UK. Nicer Vibe, better production values (soundsystems and decor) better quality of drugs, and nice range of people attend.

Yes, I do acid at many raves without psy. Tons of people at massives do too, and there's almost never psy at massives, besides Infected Mushroom at EDC this year...

I do like speed though.
