Some observations:
First time I smoked DMT, my voice got higher. It just felt good to be speaking, singing and yowling in a register definitely higher than my normal speaking range. This lasted for a week or so, and gradually returned to a baseline but retaining some of the increased range.
When I did peyote, my voice got significantly lower and more resonant. In fact, I began hearing things at a lower register too. Other people's voices were undeniably lower too from their taking peyote too, but natural non-vocal sounds sounded also deeper, lower and more resonant. My voice remained noticably low (It felt great, like I was an old wise man) for a few days, and ever since my voice has retained a touch of that deepness.
I'm pretty sure there are other drugs that alter the voice too. I'm listening to the Chili Peppers right now, and I have to say, Anthony Kiedis' voice was a lot more pleasing to the ear and slimy sounding when he was doing heroin & coke, than post-drugs.
I've also noticed that the voice wavers when the mind is active. Thus-and this is not a drug-induced distortion-When I'm on MDMA, my voice is smoother and cleaner sounding, for all the yucky thoughts that sometimes rattle around in my head were gone.
Any further thoughts about the psych-voice connection?

when acid puts me in an enlightened state... (sometimes a trip's much more confused and other times much more resolved and conflict free - most often the resolution follows processing conflict)... a state of deep understanding, then I feel like I have achieved great self-realization and when I look into my eyes I see almost a kind of wisdom that seems much much older than my own age (!)...
