psychedelics and grey hairs

Something funny (and I apologize for being an annoying smartass): It's actually spelled "gray", and its one of the most commonly misspelled words in the english language.

Anyways, this thread is a perfect example of correlation being mistaken for causation.

Gray hairs can begin to be produced as early as 20 years old in some people! Generally, people begin to see the first signs of going gray while they're in their early to mid twenties. Coincidentally, the early to mid twenties is a very common age to be introduced to psychedelic drugs. Event B (going gray) is merely correlated with event A (taking psychedelics); event A does not cause event B in this case.

noticed mine when i was 12-15. genes man, im telling you.... :)

regarding your post about correlation with age: this (twenties) is also the time when most people used to get married, and why anecdotal evidence said it is marriage that makes a man turn gray.

i guess with the evolution of society, now it seems it is studying and having a career more likely to correlate with gray hair.

(also observe the correctness of "gray" ;) )

I started getting gray hairs when I was 15 years old, started tripping when I was 16. I think in my case it is genetic because my dad and grandpa both went gray around 20ish. But a lot of males start to gray in there early mid 20s I dont think its from tripping

my hair is going white, and i am 24. my mother started going white at a very young age. she says she was mostly white by the time she was 30. i started going white at a young age (around age 15) as well... though it seems i'm going white at a slower rate than her. i have enough white hair now that people often comment when they first meet me (i look pretty young otherwise).

my mother used to use LSD quite a bit when she was still developing (in high school). i have a pet theory that she damaged her DNA (i still think those studies might hold some truth) with her LSD use. supposedly, most of the genes for hair are on the X chromosome. my sister is going white a little, but she is three years older than me and way behind me in the process. i think i have been hit harder by this because i only have one X chromosome, whereas my sister has a second X chromosome which she got from our father, protecting her from the effects of the damaged DNA. =)

of course, this is just a pet theory and i have no idea if it is factual or not.

If you get grey/white hair it's from genetics, not necessarily stress or tripping or drug use.

I'm in my late 20s and I have some on my scalp hair and facial hair. I first got it in my early 20s.

At least I'm not like some of my friends who started going bald at 16.
