Psychedelic/Sedative Herbs

It's Blue Lotus is all I know. Was a birthday present from my mother of all people. I was a tad tired to start off with but it really did knock me out - in a good way. Was kinda like being nice and chilled on benzos and smoking a nice mellow but surprisingly potent weed. Nice body buzz that was almost mildy opiatesque. Just chilled as fuck. Had had some GBL as well so maybe they have some kinda weird synergy. I liked it anyway but maybe it was just one of those one off things. Will try it on its own when not tired next time to get a better picture.

Planning to make some wine with it too - supposed to let it soak for a good few weeks in the fridge apparently and I'm kinda impatient so it'll be a struggle. Better be worthwhile :D

EDIT: This one. The flowers are still whole and pretty distinctive :)

I've got an ounce of blue lotus and a gram of an 85% extract on the way.
I'm thinking I will smoke the extract and infuse the ounce in wine.

Did you end up making a wine with your blue lotus, Shambles?

How much should be put into a bottle of wine for 2 people?

I was thinking either the full ounce, or maybe 20 grams and make tea with the other 8 grams for me and my girlfriend.

How much blue lotus should be used to make a tea for 2 people?

I've also got some bali, super indo and spike tipped thai kratom on the way. I'd like to hear bluelighters opinions on different types of kratom, and other ethnobotanicals an general.

Although it has been many years since I have tried it, I can also vouch for the effects of Blue Lotus. It certainly seems much better infused in wine for a week or so rather than smoked - for me anyway. As I mentioned, it has been far too long since I have indulged, so I cannot give any reports on how much to use.

I think there may be some reports on Erowid that may help regarding dosage, however. Great for a relaxing sleep, and even after a shorter sleep one awakes amazingly refreshed. It also seems to have no addiction or tolerance potential.

Unfortunately, one needs to use much more than smoking for a wine infusion. Thankfully it is usually rather cheap. It certainly will not send you straight to sleep, but makes sleep much easier.

For an infusion, two or three glasses of wine seemed to be quite effective for me. Of course, this would depend on the amount of Blue Lotus used in the infusion, as well as the amount of time left for it to infuse. Again though, I suggest at least a good week or so for the infusion, and a look at Erowid for reports on the quantity one should use.

I would recommend using a sweeter wine (not my normal preferences) as the lotus makes the wine - not disgustingly so though - rather bitter.

I'll have to experiment further. Wonderful substance.

I severely doubt that Kratom will ever help anyone sleep, even in high doses. It's a great substance, but usually not something that will help anyone sleep.

Although I've found some amazing effects from Mulungu and its extract forms, I'd be wary of repeated doses. It really seems far too benzo-ish, so I'd expect that it may have tolerance and withdrawal issues. Don't quote me on this, as it's just my hypothesis of mine based on no studies. Great for the comedown from stimulants though, and also amazing for anxiety.

Nice taste though in some tea, but reminds me slightly of the taste of mushrooms, which I despise. Good with sugar (another thing I cannot stand!) or other sweeteners, such as Stevia - in my opinion something much better than sugar. Stevia is also possibly good for hypertension, but studies have shown contradicting results. Stevia would be something well worth looking into, also.

Unfortunately, I doubt that much of these would be available in a health food store, but are easily found on many reliable websites. I doubt that websites offering Blue Lotus or Mulungu are scams. It is though hard to find a good website to get good quality Kratom from.

The extracts of Kratom seem to be much less interesting and seem to remove many of the effects that one experiences from good quality leaf or ground leaf. If getting an extract, I'd recommend no more than a 15x extract. Stronger extracts seem to lose the full spectrum of effects, from my experience and many others that have tried them. The stronger extracts though do seem to be much more sedating, and could possibly put one to sleep.

Not sure if it was the point of the topic, but anyone talking about mushrooms and cactii seem to be missing the point of the sedative nature asked by the OP...
