i saw this thread: http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/showthread.php?t=568710

and didn't want to hijack it so i made my own.

general consensus in that thread is that mushroom is fairly safe long term..

so what about RC psychedelics like 2c-x and the tryptamines? I know they haven't been around nearly as long as mushrooms so we can't know for sure what the long term effects are. But just based on what we know, like how some of those chemicals are just slightly different from mushrooms, can we make an educated guess that we should be safe?

While not knowing exactly I am willing to assume that the long term of effects of 4-subbed tryptamines and simple tryptamines are close to nil.

For the 2c-xs the effects are probably similarly close to nill but I would put less money on it.

The 2c-* family should probably not be used in the long-term (every day/more than once a week), esp. 2c-e, as it elevates blood pressure and messes with cardiac 5-ht2b receptors (just like fenfluramine did) with the possibility of causing bad cardiac mojo. There haven't been any tests or studies to confirm this is a problem, though.

Any long-term effects should only be caused by chronic usage.

I might as well add that my one experience with 2C-I left me feeling like the biggest piece of shit for 2+ days.

No tryptamine has left me feeling bad.

I personally dont see any difference. It all depends on dose and setting but one of my two only ever bad trips were from mushrooms so ymmv?

really, without randomized trials, with serious extended followup periods, all one can do is guess what the long term effects are, and even then you cant be sure.

think about coffee for instance. it has been around for a long time, has been studied extensively and still the long term benefits/sideeffects are not known.
now there are literally hundreds of rcs out there, many of which have been taken by a very limited pool of people, in very varying conditions....

(there are however some instances of side effects that are over a medium period of time more associated with some chems. IIRC, there is an increased incidence of HPPD in people who use 2ci over extended periods of time, for instance. but then again it might be other factors (genetics for ex) and even hppd is still something not clearly defined

most things that feel good are generally OK in moderation

you could say that mushrooms are essentially made up of a variety of research chemicals

It's unlikely that any of the 5-HT2A psychedelics (mescaline, LSD, psilocybin, 2C-x, etc.) are significantly neurotoxic in the traditional sense. They can, however, cause powerful and durable changes in the brain. Some degree of visual impairment has been detected in LSD users. This could be due to 5-HT2A sensitization or a lasting change in the number of receptors in the synapse of neurons responsible for visual processing. There is also potential that 5-HT2A agonists can cause traumatic depersonalization/derealization episodes in predisposed individuals. So if you're already feeling that you are not well grounded in reality, or you begin to get symptoms of depersonalization following psychedelic use, I'd recommend stopping until all symptoms go away. For some unfortunate individuals, this can be a while.

Anyone experimenting with phenethylamines (esp. the unresearched ones, e.g. 2C-x) should be aware of this MAPS bulletin from the early 90's:

Part of me wonders, in the interest of harm reduction, if there should be a "Big & Dandy" thread focused solely on the use of antioxidants.

dxm left me with mild hppv
not very uncomfortable though a little enjoyable.
permanant trails ect
