Discussion Psychedelic Medicine Has a Therapy Problem - Shared from the atlantic

To many peoples' hearts have been ruined and become a tremendous endless source of hate when they should be filled with empathy and love.

You could perhaps read this. I would not call a United States Three Star General a washed out hippie who did too much acid.

"In July, veteran advocates installed a tombstone near the Capitol. They covered it in dog tags to represent veterans who'd died by suicide. "
Admittedly I only skimmed that so far but I don't think I actually need to read it in depth to agree with you that, yeah, that particular guy probably deserves not to be insulted.

Maybe I should be more careful with the words I use, admittedly, that wasn't a phrase that made me feel good to say, I guess I feel like I'm somewhat more allowed to say it having been somewhat on the way to being washed out by too many psychedelics myself, at times, compared to someone on the outside, so to speak.

I'm not sure exactly who or what you're directing the comment about people's hearts becoming an endless source of hate at, but quite frankly I thought it was blindingly obvious that I used the phrase I did as a deliberate, barbed insult towards the select few bad actors at MAPS, as well as their enablers, who have, through their own inability to control their own dark impulses, tarnished the reputation of MAPS, psychedelic research, psychedelic drugs, drug users, drug culture, and frankly have done a disservice to the human species by allowing sexual assaults, deaths, frivolous lawsuits aimed at the bereaved and all manner of nefarious nonsense to happen on their watch. And yeah, frankly I actually think that's still more important than my admittedly ill-chosen decision to use a prohibitionist slur to express my frustration.

But hey, sure, I get that considering myself on the inside of the drug world doesn't mean I have carte blanche to say things that might be offensive in ways I haven't considered or just in ways that I'm blissfully oblivious to, so I apologise, I retract the "washed out hippies who did too much acid" slur, I should know better.

But MAPS still need to get their fucking shit together and do better at rooting out the abusers, sexual predators, and people who quite honestly probably don't give too much of a fuck about the mission but are just there for the drugs and the prestige. We all know there are people like that everywhere, right? If anyone's gonna try to say MAPS doesn't have those kinda people in their ranks, my opinion is that they are hopelessly naive, although I'd love to be wrong, and maybe I am.
