Psych Meds Put 49,000,000 Americans at Risk for Cancer.--Mad in America.

Not saying that it is all BS, because I've read about some findings in the past that may have pointed to a higher risk of cancer (in regards to benzodiazepines and z-drugs specifically) but the article is posted on a website urging reform in psychiatry, which usually means an oppositional stance to psychopharmacology and it's potential applications in cases involving an individual's mental health, and is also written by someone who's credentials list her as a proponent of psychosomatic and holistic medicine. I have to take those things into account a little bit. Are psych meds a perfect solution to these problems? No. Do they cause a lot of problems? Yes. Do the benefits of having them be in existence outweigh the negatives of if they weren't here? I'd probably argue 'yes'. I mean, take something like midazolam...I don't want holistic medicine when it comes to prepping me for a surgery, I want a drug goddamnit

Pretty sure I'll live longer with an increased risk of cancer than I would without my psych meds.
