Just the other day, it was a chilly night out, and I went swimming in a cold pool. Drank about 3 beers and decided to go in the room and hang out and watch a movie, before watching the movie, my girlfriend and I started playing around tickling each other etc, well out of nowhere, in my chest I felt a flutter and boom, my heart was beating out of my chest, this has happend to me in the past, but it only would last for around 10 seconds or 20 seconds, this time it lasted for about 10 minutes of around 200+ bpm, my girlfriend made me go to the ER, and she was extremely worried, which I think made me start to panic, thinking something was wrong I started to have a panic attack ontop of it I think? By the time I got to the hospital (she drove me) it normalized and they did an EKG etc. Said it was fine, but my heart rate was around 130 bpm. I felt scared as hell, I thought I was going to die.

I was a heavy roller, consumed alotttt of mdma in the past 3 years, but lately within the last year and a half, ive taken a break, barely rolling. The last time Ive rolled was around 6 months if not longer. So MDMA has nothing to do with what happend on this said night, the only thing that was in my system was 3 beers.

My question to you guys is, now that it has happend to me and I experienced a PSVT attack, I'm extremely nervous to use MDMA again, thinking it will cause another attack. Is this all in my head? I understand certain stimulants added into pills can cause heart race to increase, but I do get quality pills and I know whats in them. Is it safe for me to roll?

(I have not been diagnosed with PSVT, its only from what I researched)

Thank you.

It's called a panic attack. MDMA use is likely unrelated.
Even if it was a PSVT attack, it's not harmful unless it recurs.

My question wasnt what the attack was, it was if I do have PSVT, could taking MDMA cause damage to me and make an attack happen?

I'd argue anything heart related could be negatively effected by a stim(esp serotonin releasing one, yeah?).

BUT, while I can't say it's not PSVT(which doesn't sound that serious in itself from what I've just read, so I'd not worry over this)... it sounds exactly like a panic attack like sekio said(I used to get them all the time.. and part of the panic attack situation is that it feels exactly like there is actually something wrong mainly heart related. I've even fainted/syncope'd before from a panic attack on 2c-e after smoking weed).

My advice is to limit your worries about it or you will likely just have more frequent panic attacks triggered by the stress of worrying. Also, while I can talk myself down from a panic attack after getting so many, it still does not go away immediately, I simply feel safer and do not make the attack worse by worrying that it is serious.

edit: I would also add that, while caution is a good thing and you're free to see a doctor to calm your mind, if you did have PSVT(which correct me if I'm wrong, is a sudden onset of fast heartrate and palpitations that happens regularly) worrying about it would just make it more likely to occur.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PSVT#Terminology
Two uses:
1. "Theoretically, it refers to any tachycardia that is not ventricular in origin. This definition includes physiological sinus tachycardia which can be a normal reaction to stress and a variety of non-cardiac conditions such as fever and hyperthyroidism."
2. "Often, however, in a clinical setting, it is used practically as a synonym for paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT). This term refers to those SVTs that have a sudden, almost immediate onset [2] and are regular. A person experiencing PSVT may feel their heart rate go from 60 to 300 beats per minute instantaneously, often in response to a quick movement such as picking something up from the floor. "

Also: "Most SVT is unpleasant rather than life threatening, although very fast heart rates can be a particular problem for people with underlying ischaemic heart disease or the elderly."

So I'd say you're not dealing with psvt/svt and if you are it is the first form which basically seems the same as a panic attack(unless you can relate to the 2nd, then it seems like you have more of a reason to check it out).
