It was a Wednesday evening and six of us (although this later swelled to nine) had decided to put a free house to good use. We were in the back garden of a detached house with two minders who were smoking weed. At first I was unsure whether to go ahead with the trip or not as I had felt unwell the day before. But as the doses were being sorted I decided not to let a mere headache force me to miss this opportunity.
I ate my portion about 9:00 pm and as quickly as I could. I had had nothing to eat since lunchtime and even then it was only a sandwich. Within 15 minutes I was experiencing energy rushes throughout my whole body, and a warmth flowing through my arms and legs. Within 20 minutes the Nike logo on my left shoe began wriggling and trying to free itself.
I decided to lie down as I was in pain from laughing uncontrollably at this point. I had trouble following conversations, as I wasn’t sure whether people were actually talking or not. Upon gazing at the clouds they transformed into medieval soldiers and began fighting. It was as if I was witnessing a battle staged purely for my enjoyment. It ended with the clouds imploding and then re-emerging as a fireworks display. Clouds were swelling and exploding into thousands of pieces scattering across the sky.
Soon after the main tree in the garden began shimmering with colour. Changing from a vivid green, to blue, red and yellow. By now my visuals were becoming more intense. I saw day turn to night in seconds, with the sun, moon and clouds hurtling across the sky at the same time.
I re-joined the group and we all sat round in a circle. Everyone who was tripping went through a period of saying whatever came into their head at the time. It lead to very disorientating, but very amusing, conversations. Lying down on a beanbag it felt as if I were on a lilo drifting out to sea. Whilst lying down I was overcome with intense feelings of bliss, euphoria and omnipotence. I felt all-powerful as if looking down on my own kingdom. I began to appreciate every word people were saying to me. Words had a depth and meaning I had not encountered before.
I stood up and stretched my arms above my head. I immediately knew I had entered a new phase in the trip. Taking deep breaths and breathing out slowly it was as if energy was rushing out my mouth and spreading into the garden. Everyone became 2D from the waist up. To see everyone’s legs perfectly normal but the upper half of their body flat as a sheet of paper was amazing.
I began to wonder if I could control and direct my hallucinations. Then my whole world changed. Everything became a stereotypical mushroom trip. It was if I had been dropped into a Disney cartoon. Plants were bright red, purple and yellow; I saw 3ft high (approx) mushrooms that were thin, brilliantly white with small caps. I was in a world with no pain or suffering. I could no longer grasp the concept of birth, life, family or death. Everything was just as one. I even thought about how my passing would affect others. I had a desire to phone my parents merely to talk to them and hear their voices (luckily I had switched off my phone and hidden it precisely so something like this wouldn’t happen).
I stood at the back of the garden and looked at the house. It was swaying side to side and everything was 2D at this point. This was the most amazing part of the trip for me because the house, garden and trippers all froze and my surroundings became a painting. I could see brush strokes all around the house and everything was awash with colour.
I entered the kitchen where hard techno was on the cd player. This made me realise how much of an influence music has whilst on mushrooms. Whilst entering the kitchen I could feel a stream of hot air blowing from behind and walking almost became floating my feet felt that light. I tried to place my hand on a table and missed; when I looked back the table had shrunk to half its size. Listening to techno gave an aggressiveness to the trip, which at the time I did not know if I would enjoy. The sounds were almost hell-like and probably would have become too intense. I looked at the door through which I had entered and a face materialized in the middle of it. It smiled and winked before melting back into the door. This reminded me everything was ok and was merely a new experience. The aggressiveness of the music seemed to disappear and the floor began spouting colours up to the ceiling.
I left the kitchen blissfully happy and began to head upstairs. At the foot of the stairs was an “arm” of the banister that had snapped off. I picked it up, spun it round my head and on placing it back it had magically re-attached itself to the banister. (Afterwards once I’d come down the arm was still lying down at the foot of the stairs broken).
I went to the toilet and looked at myself in the mirror which I enjoy doing on mushrooms. Each time I see my reflection it seems as though I’m looking deeper into myself and it doesn’t seem to be me that’s looking back. I stepped back and found my right leg had perfectly melted through the side of the bath. I had the weirdest sensation whereby I could feel my leg standing on both the floor and the inside of the bath.
I went back downstairs and I successfully managed to project the pattern of the kitchen floor onto people’s faces. I went back into the kitchen and starting eating a few grapes. I could feel the grapes travel down my throat, into my stomach and spread throughout my whole body.
I went into the garden where a pleasant tiredness overcame me. Looking back at the tree that was changing colour earlier on, it now looked as though it was made out of scaffolding. Each branch seemed to be connected at right angles and looked metallic. I began to come down at this point and although I was no longer tripping, everything was of interest. I was eager to know what other people had seen, heard and felt during their trip. It wasn’t until about 2:30 – 3:00 am that I felt “normal” again.
