I agree with questforstarfish. If you are really interested in MDMA and are nervous about a possible panic attack - create a save environment/setting, just do a home session!
As he said, a massive/rave can be totally overcrowded, being not familiar with this condition + crashing into some idiots or loosing orientation (which can happen pretty easily on MDMA
) might evoke bad feelings/anxiety (or, the opposite, make you laugh about yourself: being such a soft, warm, 'dumb' being). A rave is imho a pretty 'extreme setting' which is an experience for all, on MDMA enhanced, senses (lots of lights/colours, loud music, heat, many people, fast movement) being overextended by that can be easy on MDMA, especially on the come up (but it can also be really funny, but also pretty distorting).
When I rolled the first time on a party (smaller one with around ~80 people on the floor, so it was easy to notice for everyone what I was doing
) I thought I was prepared because I tried it twice before in more controlled environments, but I wasn't. The music hit me like a train, on the come up I was barely able to stand up and I felt like being lost in a huge (not being able to define the dimensions of that room) hall filled with sound, so the come up was really really confusing and - indeed everyone reacts differently at this point - I think being prone to panic attacks this might be dangerous. Anxiety at the come up, especially at the first time is normal and after a few minutes you get attuned to that new condition, but you might be careful.
So if you are really interested, try at home first. Together with a good friend, some nice music and a friendly environment (pillows/blankets/lights) it can also be a truly epic experience!
€: But I also have to agree with GBM. The experience itself makes it easier for you to get in touch with your inner selves complety anxiety-less and learn more about yourself + every roll acts like a antidepressant for me (still, haven't done it to much yet). The week after the roll is always really really positive for me and if smiling could kill, I would have been convicted as a mass murder already.
