I was given this stuff for bronchitis by my doctor (promethazine/codeine syrup-this is written directly on the bottle)...has anybody ever tried this stuff? It seems obvious this stuff would be liquid codeine, but I have a hard time believing they'd give me codeine for a really bad cough...I tried a search for this stuff...anybody?!? thanks...
 
A very nice anti-histamine. Codeine is indeed partially a cough supressant in action.
 
I would save the stuff and use it for opiates -- it helps the nausea a whole lot -- i.e., next time you get high off an opiate, take a teaspoon or two of this stuff.
 
well, Promethazane was my first ever break into opiates, just a few nights ago. I downed 75 mg, and had a nice bit of a nod, and some visuals. it was really quite good. Since it was such a small amount, I really didn't have too much of the anti-cholinergic. it isn't that bad, actually, pretty good.
 
promethazine is an antihistamine & anti-emetic which is very closely related to the phenothiazine antipsychotic major tranks like thorazine & stelazine (see compazine...)
beware the tardive dyskinesia, ok?
oh, and as a "downer" (well, a drug with strong sedative action) there may be additive or even synergistic potentiation of somatic effects, including respiratory depression...

A lot of people drink Promethazine/Codiene AKA "Lean" here in Houston. Its mostly a black people thing. I tryed Promethazine once and tripped a lot, but yes, it did suck.
 
Sorry to be an idiot, but I hate to waste drugs and have a shitload of Promethazin left over from my allergy prescription.
Is there any recreational value to be had at all? What is the negative effect of downing, say, 50mg-70mg with a few beers? Don't worry, I'm probably not going to do it (and certainly not before seeing replies), just curious as to the possibilities :)

Nevermind, I just sobered up and realized trying to get high off old anti-histamines without even the benefit of the codeine in it is, to say the least, not advisable.

I love promethazine or phenergren sp? I take it when I need high narcotic doses for pain and it kills all nausea and itching! It seems to potentiate the highs as well. No good by its self though.
 
If you are sick and vomiting, promethazine is a godsend miracle drug. Its a must have. The suppositories are awesome since you cant keep shit in your stomach anyway. 50-100mgs is really not a high dose. Following prescribing indications, an average dose is 12.5-50mg. Phenegran is great to have on hand. It is also good to keep around if you ever are having trouble falling asleep. It is used as a sedative too in alot of cases. Nausea and itching are reasons for its widepread use with opiates but are actually more for potentiating the effects of the opiates
 
Phenergan is the shit...whenever I had any type of nausea or vomitting, take one pill (25mg) and it was like an instant fix. Just like when you're dope sick and you do that bag, instant gratification. Weird thing is, I just got a new script for some more promethazine today...hehe.
 
This sounds like a good thing to have around...
How did you go about getting the script for it?
 
tell your doc. you have been having nausea and vomiting, if you want the suppository tell him/her you cannot keep anything down, pretty easy to obtain, i been taking them for years for my horrible stomach. they are def a "godsend"!
 
You might also want to mention some very mild sleeping disorder. I had no idea what this sutff was and my doctors enthusiastically gave me huge prescriptions of it for nausea and sleep problems when they heard I suffered from those.

codeine

i had a friend who told his doctor that he had real bad coughing problems and at nite he would cough All nite long and that he was coughing up blood and he got a nice bottle of codeine. mix it with sprite and ur set
 
He said he was coughing up blood and was given some simple cough syrup? I was under the impression that coughing up blood was a somewhat serious symptom...
