Hi guys, I'm just a newbie at the moment so feel free to move this thread or whatever needs to be done.

My dilemma entails; I had a blood test (which normally hurts a little after the first few days,) then later during the week I came upon an ampoule of Promethazine Hydrochloride. I was really fiending at the time and I don't usually use needles but having drunk the stuff before and had only minor whoozy effects so I thought 'what the f!ck', big mistake. I did a thorough internet search into injecting the drug IV and IM and realized I'd have to dilute that sucker way down and push the plunger down reaaaaaaaaaal slow, and expect a bit of pain, Which hurt like a motherf!cker. Though I only used a tiny bit of the Promethazine it's been about 5 days now and I'm still feeling this somewhat "vein pain" where I injected. I'm quite sure though in my druggie stupor that I shot myself in the arm where the blood test was taken so I can guess that 2 and 2 combined to give me this pain. I've also read that Promethazine can take ages to heal damaged tissue, so I was just wondering if anybody could share some light on this situation.

I also rigged myself up as safely as possible (no used needles, alcohol swabs etc.) and there isn't any indication around the injection site of infection or trauma that could have caused it, actually the needle mark is barely visible.

So thank you heaps if you could shed some light on this somewhat distressing situation. :)

I get vein pain n I been clean for 6 months now n I still get stings like I'm shooting up what's with that?? Lol
But seriously dude maybe u should not that shit up .. Just use what everyone else uses unless u wanna be a experimental talk to ur doc ...

Hi CK welcome to bluelight. It's really difficult to diagnose via internet. It is technically possible to IV promethazine (eg check here )

Pain at the injection site possibly indicates some sort of injury and/or infection. It's best not to assume that it will get better all by itself. For your peace of mind you might want to get it checked out. If you don't have a GP you would be comfortable visiting, you could do worse than heading into your local NSP (needle exchange) for some advice.

Promethazine can be injected IV, but it is considered dangerous because of the inadvertent risk of intra-arterial injection and tissue damage. There is a black box warning on the drug in the USA regarding this, and it's preferred method is IM, and never sub-cutaneous due to the tissue damage risks.

I would go see a doctor CK, we can't diagnose you with anything over the internet and we'd hate to see you suffer because of this.
