Project 2025: Trump's plan for authoritarian takeover

Not open for further replies.
put it all in the context of trump's campaign statements like "i wouldn't be a dictator. except for day one" (paraphrased), calling those who disagree with him "vermin" and "the enemy within", immigrants "poisoning the blood of our country", and most recently “and i think it should be very easily handled by, if necessary, by national guard or, if really necessary, by the military, because they can’t let that happen," and it is worrisome.

what level of denial is required to support this guy, and trumpet the importance of the 2nd amendment at the same time?

What's funny is that you would absolutely support Biden saying "and i think it should be very easily handled by, if necessary, by national guard or, if really necessary, by the military, because they can’t let that happen" about Jan 6th

what a straw man.

if any democrat - biden, anybody - is suggesting using the u.s. military on political opponents, i absolutely condemn it.

the people assaulting the capitol were smashing windows and doors and attacking officers.

use of domestic law enforcement was appropriate and necessary.

trump is talking about people who simply disagree with him.

you know, the kind of government tyranny the all-mouth-and-no-trousers 2nd amendment brigade often talk about...

i guess he's never heard of posse commitatus.

@alasdairm, Trump has categorically denied supporting or having anything to do with Project 2025 at the debate with Kamala Harris. I think we can safely put his support for that down as not being true. There is enough to talk about not voting for Trump without having to make things up, don't you think? 👍

trump said he'd build a wall and mexico would pay for it. that was untrue.

he said he'd repeal obamacare and replace it with something much better. that was untrue.

he said, in 2020, that the coronavirus was "totally under control" and was "disappearing". that was untrue.

he said in 2019, contradicting the federal weather office, that alabama was at a greater risk from hurricane dorian than had been initially forecast (and tried to support his claim by extending the forecast path of the hurricane on a map with a black sharpie. that was untrue.

he said that he knew nothing about the hush money payment to stormy daniels. that was untrue.

he said in 2019 that the "noise from windmills" causes cancer. that was untrue.

he said in 2016 that he was once named michigan's "man of the year". that was untrue.

he still claims he won the 2020 election. that's untrue.

and thousands of other things that are untrue.

he says he has "no idea who is behind" project 2025. that is blatantly untrue.

the group behind project 2025 is the heritage foundation. trump knows who the heritage foundation are. he's relied on them for advice in the past. he spoke at a heritage project event in april 2022:

"for nearly 50 years this legendary institution which is what it is has been at the forefront of the conservative movement helping lead the fight to defend our cherished american history, culture and traditions.
...
our country is going to hell. the critical job of institutions such as heritage is to lay the groundwork and heritage does such an incredible job at that...
...
encourage new thinking, embrace new directions and keep heritage at the vanguard of the conservative movement. i think tremendous things are going to be coming out of heritage.
"

wow. that's high praise for an organization he claims to know nothing about. at an event hosted by an organization he claims to know nothing about.

in a speech in october 2019, trump's vice-president mike pence said:

"heritage foundation has been fighting side by side with this president and this administration since day one and we have a stronger america as a result. from right in the transition we went to work availing ourselves of the resources available from the heritage foundation. we laid out plans for this administration. we drew on the scholarship and resources of this historic think tank."

trump has praised the heritage foundation's president - kevin roberts - on a number of occasions, including on the same stage as roberts at an nrb event in nashville in february.

at that same event kevin roberts said: "our project 2025 has developed a comprehensive policy agenda but even more importantly including recruiting people, 20,000 people to go into the next administration hopefully to help take back this country...
...
we want no credit. we want the american people if president trump is elected again president trump and his administration to take credit for that
"

paul dans, the director of project 2025 stated (at the same event) that he was going to have to give 10 months notice at the heritage foundation so he could go back to work for his old boss, donald trump.

john mcentee, a senior advisor on project 2025 stated, on media matters in april, "i work for the heritage foundation on their project 2025 which is in charge of staffing the next administration should trump win"

i guess somebody needs to tell those guys trump has no idea who they are and that they have nothing to do with the next administration should he win.

and now that project 2025 has been thoroughly outed, trump categorically denies having anything to do with project 2025? why the fuck would anybody in their right mind believe him?

you're a smart guy c_k - and i have a ton of respect for you - but if you believe trump when he denies project 2025's involvement in his plans, you are simply in denial.

"A secretly-captured video of Project 2025 co-author Russell Vought published Thursday offers insight into one of the minds behind a far-right policy agenda from which Donald Trump has distanced himself in recent weeks, despite Vought claiming in private that the controversial blueprint is ready to be “plugged right in” if Trump wins in November.

Two activists with the nonprofit Centre for Climate Reporting secretly recorded a meeting with Vought, then published a video including clips from the meeting Thursday, which reveal him talking openly about what the plan will mean for America, the behind-the-scenes work he did to prepare it and how supportive Trump was of its crafting.
...

Backlash against some of the more extreme pieces in the 922-page Project 2025 blueprint—including illegalizing pornography, rejecting any gender identity beyond biological sex and eliminating the U.S. Department of Education—has grown over the last month, leading Trump to denounce the plan and call any attempt to link him to Project 2025 “pure disinformation.”

Vought, however, called himself someone who “has the president’s trust” and said while he expects Trump to continue to distance himself from the plan, the former president has visited and raised money for his organization, "blessed it" and been "very supportive of what we do."
" (my emphasis)

Here's a video that covers the background of the heritage foundation which drafted project2025. Its a think tank that doesn't do any actual research

Because he refuses to hire anybody even somewhat associated with it. You don't need peer-review to understand that

Because he refuses to hire anybody even somewhat associated with it.

and you know this because the trump campaign told you?

they're up to their necks in it. then the full extent of it was outed. and it looks terrible politically so they're now desperately trying to distance themselves from it out of political expediency, or even necessity.

and the distancing is coming from the candidate of 10,000 lies. but this time he's telling the truth.

you disagree. no worries. happy to agree to disagree.
