Hi everyone...

well this semester at a new school is really going poorly. i have to get grades of 80% or better to pass or remain there (any grade less than that and i'm kicked out, so they say)

undergrad study skills aren't sticking. besides, i took a year off, and it made it worse.

i take suboxone 2-3mg/day and i feel like this makes things worse for attention/etc. i am passing 3 classes but the one, is killing me. huge amount of memorization involved. i really keep kicking myself in the ass and assigning study times, but i keep putting it off further cause i dont feel well mentally.

i already failed a test really bad. dont know what to do to help me get more into a study mood. almost wish i lost internet access, because its such a distraction. but there are stuff online i need to study.

There's a way to block sites on your computer--I had to block myself from Facebook for awhile since it's so easy to type "F", hit down, and hit enter unintentionally, ya know? Another good strategy for avoiding social networking sites (or other sites that are not productive) is to log out of them and don't keep your information auto saved--This way you have to type it in each time you want to log in.

As far as blocking out study time, figure out when you work best. Before, no matter how hard I tried, I would struggle with homework/studying in the evening. One day I decided to get up early and do some homework, and holy crap, what a difference! Homework is a breeze now that I do it in the AM.

Also, is there any way you could not take Suboxone on days you have to go to school?

Keep us updated. :) Good luck!

I try to do most of my work at school or the library. My time is used much more efficiently instead of refreshing sites from my bookmarks and I find it motivating to have other people around me also studying.

Maybe try getting together a study group. Find a couple people in your class. If it's a lot of memorization, I'm sure there are at least a few others who are having troubles. I know that those are the classes that I do the worst in. Get together a study group and tell yourself you have to go to the study group session like work. You miss work, you get fired. You have to go to that session! Besides, you'll be the leader, you have to go.

I was once in your situation whereby I needed to get 75's to 80's to proceed further with my masters degree. My suggestion to you is this and keep in mind it will only be temporary:

1. Consult with the teacher on what you need to do to get that 80 or 85. Be in constant contact with them and anything you don't understand keep on asking them. Even if it means being fucken annoying.

2. See if there is a helper at your uni. Like an academic writing advisor etc... These types of people will be able to save your ass and get you onto the right path.

3. Any bad friends - keep them the fuck away. You don't need yourself thinking about when you will score next whilst studying.

4. Commit to a simple time table. Say for e.g. say to yourself, between 9am to 9:30am I will read this etc....

5. Adjust your life so that study becomes the main focus. Everything else needs to come second etc....

6. Read around the topics which are given to you. Sometimes the reason why you don't understand something is because it hasn't been explained properly or there is some form of information which you need to understand first before grasping the concepts of what is being said or written etc....

I ASSURE YOU THIS IS NO EASY FEAT AND WHEN YOU ACCOMPLISH IT YOU WILL BE OVER THE MOON AND PROUD OF WHAT YOU CAN DO!!! TO GET THIS KIND OF ENERGY IS PRICELESS AND WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T WASTE IT ON SHIT AS IT'S HARD GETTING BACK UP AGAIN. GOOD LUCK :)
