Hello everyone! I would like to start off by saying that this is my first post and that I'm really excited that I've finally joined this awesome community! I've been browsing threads just about every day/every other day for about 5 years, but I don't know why I never just pulled the trigger and joined until today!
Anyways, I was wondering if anyone has ever noticed that, when redosing oxymorphone, that the effects can often never even be noticed?
For reference, I use the 40 mg ER tablets, and use about 5-10 mg/day insufflated, typically in 3-5 separate doses. Each dose is usually a bit bigger than the previous one. First dose is usually an hour after I wake up, second when I get home from class, third while I'm doing my homework and quizzes, and the 4th-5th late in the night, only if I've worked hard that day, to reward myself. I also drink about a liter of tonic water a day, for potentiation (started out drinking it solely for potentiation, but now I just love the taste). I swear by it and attribute this to why I've been able to keep my tolerance relatively low for so many months. Now I've used many opiates before, and I would say that the redosing of hydrocodone and oxycodone is pretty damn effective as far as redosing goes.
I also take 2 20 mg Ritalin IR everyday for heavy ADHD, and bc I have a heavy school work load. On another note, I must say that oxymorphone and Ritalin really go good together, and oxymorphone by no means hinders my concentration. In fact, it sometimes even enhances my focus.
Anyways, I have a theory as to why redosing oxymorphone may not be as effective as other opiates, so I hope you guys can expand upon it, or even reply with your own theories!
My Theory:
The half life of oxymorphone (7-9 hrs) is a lot longer compared to other opiates. Perhaps this long half life prevents the spread-out doses to be individually felt, as it is more of an extension to the original high than it is a "reboost," or "another high." For example, when I would take 20 mg of oxycodone (half life 2-4 hrs), I could take 20 mg 5 hours later and feel about 95% as high as the first high.
I know 5-10 mg daily doesn't really seem like much, but I pride myself in being able to keep a low tolerance and use self control. On top of this I feel pretty luck because for some reason I'm just a tad bit more sensitive to than other people seem to be. I'm pretty average when it comes to other opiates, but oxymorphone has been like a godsend for me bc it saves me money, and also because something like 10 mg of powder in those 40 mg ER's isn't really much for the nose.
Also, since this was my first post, I wouldn't mind some constructive criticism if you guys have any, ie, my post was too long, too many details, etc.
