Problems with my suboxone doctor

Hello all,

I've been on bupe maintenance, with great success, for the last 4 months, taking 8mg/day. About two weeks ago my bupe Dr. told me he'd be out of town, but assured me that he gave special instructions to the pharmacy to refill my prescription today (30 days after my last refill). I realize it would have made more sense for him to just add another refill before he left, but he assured me it would work out and I had no reason not to trust him.

It turns out he did not contact the pharmacy, and I have no way to refill my prescription. There are six days before he returns and the the on-call doc has no way to contact him and cannot prescribe suboxone himself. So I am facing six days without any bupe, jumping off at the 8mg mark. I'm not too worried about relapsing, as I've cut off my contacts. But does anyone have any experience in acquiring emergency suboxone doses in these types of situations? I'm considering going to the ER if things get bad enough. It's not so much the discomfort of the WD's that worry me, it's that I need to be fairly functional over these next six days, I have a lot of university work to do. So, I'm just wondering if there are any resources out there that a bupe patient could utilize in this situation. For the record, I didn't go over my prescription or abuse it, so I should be fully entitled to getting my meds. Thanks for reading.

Honestly there isn't really much you can do..99% chance the ER won't do anything either. Opiate WD can't kill you its just discomfort. They won't care about helping you.

If it were me I'd find someone with suboxone for sale. Jumping off at 8mg will be extremely uncomfortable.

Whenever i was in suboxone programs i would feel out people like me that we could help each other out if one of us ran out. Doesnt help you now but your familiar to suboxone are they really that hard for u to find on the streer? Hell you're a junkie put some effort into it you'll be sick so that would be motivation. Id rather deal with the search then the ER

Don't blame your doctor right away because pharmacies fuck up all the time.

You can be thankful that Suboxone has a long half-life (~36 hours), so if you crunch the numbers it will be awhile before you begin to feel uncomfortable. It won't be pleasant, but a Suboxone withdrawal typically is not that bad.

Pretty fucked up of you to jump to conclusions and call him a junkie.

Idk what you can do.. all i can say is, find something on the street, or stick it out. Or, order some Kratom online.

Yeah kratom's a good idea. It will take some of the edge off. Just don't make it a habit when ur back on sub. And fuck that doc. that's not cool.

Similar thing happened to me...I was on 8mg and my doctor would only ever give me 14 day supply then I had to go back and see him and get more. I had to pay a copay of 50 dollars each time which I never paid eventually they told me if I didnt pay the balance I couldnt see the doctor. I tried the ER and they gave me trazadone to sleep and sent me on my way. I ended up buying it off the street for a while which eventually led to my relapse so I suggest just getting through the withdrawal and quitting all together. ;)

Well the issue was resolved. I found an old friend who's also on sub. My main purpose for starting this thread was to see if any legitimate resources existed for bupe patients in an emergency. I know methadone maintenance patients can go to another clinic if their clinic is closed for the day or if they are traveling, but there doesn't seem to be a any similar resources for bupe patients, when their doctor flakes out on them. One of the cons of being on bupe I suppose.

Make certain that your physician knows the importance of getting your meds correctly prescribed as you experienced symptoms of withdrawal due to the error he made. Don't tell him that you obtained bupe from a "friend."
