Citalopram is an SSRI so it directly messes with your serotonin. Also, I'm surprised no one said this...STAY AWAY FROM DXM. Serotonin Syndrome is very serious and can be lethal, and DXM + SSRI can certainly cause it![]()
Hell yeah, very good point!! I kinda assumed the OP was staying well away from DXM now but not everone knows DXM is serotinergic, I certainly didn't til I came across BL
Have been meaning to post something for a while about the general probs you've been having with serotinergic drugs darksidesam, but hadn't quite worked out what to say.. "serotonin related anxiety" isn't something I've come across before and neurochemistry is really complicated but it does sound like serotinergic drygs are not agreeing with you at all.
However, it's also extremely important to treat your depression - you mentioned that it had been pretty bad in the past and and that citalopram seemed to be working for you, it's rubbish that it gives you so many nasty side effects. Obviously you can't stay on it if the cons outweigh the pros, but def see your GP and taper off properly and see what they suggest as an alternative
Good luck!
