Pro eatting disorder sites?

^ on that note though, I *think* I once saw something about how they've recently made Barbie's proportions MORE realistic in recent years vs. how it used to be. I wouldn't really know as I haven't seen or played with a Barbie in quite a few years lol. But, I think I saw an article on it once?

I didn't read the discusion but eating disorders are a lifestyle not a disease. Anyone else heard that saying? Its wrong.

jungle juice is right. Gaining mucsle and being cut is alot harder than just droppig weight

StagnantReaction - there is back lash in the male communtiy about metro sexuality. It is losing its popularity in many respects.

IMO, these people need help. They're praising external influences and have absolutely the worst self-esteem of any group of people I've come across.

That being known, I don't find it much of a surprise that these people personified their obsessive external disorder to an idol called "Ana"

Its definately a disease of the mind but I suppose some people could view it as a lifestyle choice. Same with drug addiction.

Anorexia kills, but obesity also kills.

Only the degree of obsession determines whether it is a positive lifestyle choice, or a negative addiction and illness.

Agreed. Damn this thread for making me get obsessed....er.... look into it. ;)

Don't worry, I have not the slightest inclination towards anorexia (I am cooking a huge fat pizza as I type) -however I'm fascinated by it as probably the disease with the least successful cure rates short of cancer in the world... these girls (from what I've seen) simply do not WANT to stop. They CAN'T let go, because the anorexia is all that they are, in their minds. Which makes "cure" practically impossible.

They argue that with these sites they are getting support from people who dont' judge them: which is true. But they are also seeping deeper and deeper into their disease. My god, they have 'anorexia bracelets' to "unite" them as a group. They cheer each other on when they have a day where they only consume 12 calories (diet Red Bull is a favourite). They post pictures of Mary Kate Olsen and swoon over her stick-like arms, while putting themselves down in Every. Single. Post. They hate themselves more than anyone I've ever witnessed in my entire life, and I can't help but wonder if the sites foster and encourage the self-flagellating and competition more than they help and support.

It's sad and depressing, and I only wish i knew how to help :(

It's interesting.. I just did a seach and really didn't find any threads pertaining to anorexia/bullemia problems here on bl. Not sure if they'd be in TDS or here, but I found it a shame. Can anyone direct me?

interesting topic. anorexia IS NOT a lifestyle. some of the girls on the site try to promote it as such. these girls are are either just getting into the ED culture and find it fascintating, and wont keep up with it for long, or are in the early stages of an ed and in denial.

i have suffered from an eating disorder for about 6/7 years now, and i have looked at sites like those. and they are triggering and sick. also comforting for about 2 seconds. i have spent years doing treatment and group, and CBT, and drop in groups, and in the hospital etc, and not ONE SINGLE person i have met who suffers from an ED finds these websites acceptable by any means. more disgusting.

eating disorders arent something fashion models do to lose weight. they are a disease that is debiliatating and life threating. i wouldnt wish it on anyone, and it fucks you up terrible, its a mental issue/addiction problem not a game.

these girls with MK Olsen, and gisele, and famine victim inspiration photos are NOT typical girls with eating disorders. we are thin, and smart, and know better, and most likely have scars across our bodies and sore bones, and shelves full of perscriptions, and years full of tears and hatred.

just thought id shed some light on reality, i hate when people think we are all like these crazy fuckers. i know im sick, and i hate it, and would give nothing more than to make it go away tomorrow.

The way anorexics/bulimics use their websites is the same way drug users use bluelight. It gives you somewhere to go that doesn't judge and discusses what your interested in. Right/Wrong, Lifestyle/Disease, Pleasure/Addiction. Its all semantics. Drug abuse is called a disease too. We can't judge these people. Drugs make you skinny as well.:\
