Hi everyone, I'm new to the posting aspect but I've been lurking for some time. Ill try to make my story as short and factual as possible. Late this past summer I ended up with a workplace (L&I) injury. I've been tried on different medications and I just now got some decent painkillers. My original diagnosis was completely wrong. An MRI showed what I knew all along - herniated disc. So up until about 5 weeks ago I was being treated for something that I didn't have. I fully believe that the physical therapy I had to go to - with excersises targeted for the injury I never had - is why I'm still having so many problems almost three months after the injury.

One of my drs decided that gabapentin would be a good medication for what was going on since alot of my pain comes from irritated nerves. Ten days into treatment with gabapentin, I was feeling really good almost pain free. Then the side effects started. Sleepwalking was the first, then hostile mood, my feet got huge! As in I looked like I had some serious edema, and the final straw was the suicide attempt. I stopped taking it that night.

My dr is aware of everything that has happened and wants to try lyrica. Knowing I had suicidal side effects with the last one, is this a good idea? Dr says they are sister drugs but lyrica side effects are much milder compared to gabapentin, your thoughts?
