Hi all, I use benzodiazepines on a regular basis about 1 day on 3, I use non-precribed clonazepam (which is real Klonopin not fake one bought on street, it was prescribed to some1 just not me), and I also have non-benzo prescribed for insomnia (zopiclone), I also am being followed by neurologist for tension headache and psychiatrist for ADHD and my HEAVY insomnia.
Because I can't tolerate Serotonin reuptake inhibitors whatever their class is (SSRI, TCA, SNRI), nor atypical anxiolytics (Mirtazapine, Buspirone, Hydroxyzine), and Lyrica is too weak for me unless I use it once a week mabe twice, add to that that I also litterally disapprove the use of antipsychotics for insomnia and I probably have a movement disorder, the only thing that is left for my insomnia is Benzodiazepines.
Which is why I am currently on a non-benzo; Zopiclone, but am going to ask to be switched back to Diazepam as it was more effective at keeping me asleep; with the Zopiclone I wake up in the middle of the night and can't go to back to sleep. Because of that I started to go to sleep after 12pm to make sure I wake up in the morning and not middle of the night.
Also, I have been reading on lemon balm: I read that water extracts of it seems to have about 10% the potency at GABA-T inhibitor and acetylcholinesterase inhibitor with some affinity for M1, M2, M4 receptors and for a4b2 and a7 nicotinic receptors.
I also read it could inhibit the enzyme up to 33% with methanol extract so plain plant could be even more potent than the most potent extract.I concluded that dried plain leaf would be better than an extract.
So I decided to grind it up with a coffee grinder to a fine powder, as fine as kratom is when you buy plain leaf, I then strained the result and only kept the powder and put the bigger parts for another round through the grinder.
Result is I can fit 0.7g in a 00 caps.
I want to use it as a daily preventive treatement for my tension headache and for the stress that comes with not being treated properly (passing from one specialist that only want to give TCA for the headache to another; my psychiatrist that is litteraly not careing for my pain).
It also happens that it help with my insomnia (the 3 kind, yes I am afflicted with the 3 kind of insomnia), when I go to sleep and take it with benzo I need a lower amount of benzo for the effect and it feels like it last longer, last night I slept 8 hours with a residual clonazepam that I dosed 7 hour before bed time and 3g of lemon balm that I dosed 1 hour before bed time.
So I plan on taking it 4 times a day, 2 caps in the morning, 1 at noon, 1 middle afternoon and 2 at night, for a total of 4.2g a day everyday. The dose is spreaded because the half life is short and what I intend to do is stack up GABA so that the days that I don't use benzo I still have a minimal help to prevent my headache reduce my stress and help my inomnia. I am also really lacking acetylcholine which makes the acetylcholinesterase inhibitor useful in my schoolwork when added to my ADHD meds.
Overall, I am on day 2 and have never felt as good without taking anything else for my headache, it might also be the comfort that I lost by trying Amitriptyline (BAAD mistake to try it) that is coming back, but still I got a good night sleep and didn't take anything else than lemon balm before bed time.
This morning I took 1,4g and feel relaxed and do not feel my headache as strong as usual and feel abnormally comfortable calm, structured and have a wiered feeling of satisfaction. I am glad I found how to use that plant that I have been using for a long time in the form of a tea which didnt work really.
I am pretty positive about this and hope that by dosing low-med dose regularly I will stack up enough GABA to stop using anything for my tension headache and help reduce my dose of benzo/non-benzo for my insomnia.
I also hope it will add some benefits to my nootropic regimen; L-theanine and noopept daily, I also use centrophenoxine(which I will reduce the dose) and phenylpiracetam for long school work day; mabe once a week.
I know its a long post but it was needed to explain the situation as accurately as I felt it, I tried to organise it the best I could so it wouldnt be too hard to read (I do not like long paragraphs that never ends).
This is more of a post for anyone who is in a situation that looks like mine, I accept to be the gunnea pig for this and if you want to follow if it works and mabe try it yourself once you find it safe/effective enough to your taste.
