potency hierarchy for prescription drugs...

i can't find any source of information which lists a certain class of drugs in order of potency...could anyone fill me in on this for future reference? i'd like info on narcotic analgesics and benzodiazepines...list em in order of most potent being #1 to least potent like this
1. fentanyl
2. hydrocodone
3. oxycodone
4. etc
5. etc
same for the benzos
1. alprazolam
2. diazepam
3. etc
4. etc

Here would be *my* list for potency of opiates, I am not 100% sure of its accuracy
starting from weakest to strongest
Codeine
Hydrocodone
Oxycodone
Morphine
Hydromorphone
Oxymorphone
Fentanyl
 
Depends - are you talking on a milligram-for-milligram basis?
Fentanyl is the most potent narcotic, but I think that Oxymorphone will actually mess you up more.. this list would be very hard to make, but this should be a good thread!
Feel free to base this on your opinion rather then the pharmacology, as there are a lot of grey areas, and you can't always compare one drug to another ...

I took a pharmacology class and if you want to know the potency of which drugs, just go bye the classification. Hydrocodone is just for mild-moderate pain. Considering, Dr's just pass them out like Candy to people. Here is a list:
Schedule 1 drugs--illegal to have or obtain ( ex.. heroin, lsd, etc..)
Schedule 2: Codeine, fentanyl, methadone, morphine, oxycodone, cocaine, methamphetamine
Schedule 3: Tylenol 3, and other mixtures that contain limited opioid quantity, thiopental, madrolone
Schedule 4: alprazolam, clonazepam, diazeapam, and other benzos...
Schedule 5: non prescription meds with codeine in it.. ( ex.. robotussin)

hmm...good point phreex...originally i was interested in the mg for mg potency so fill me in on that first...after we get that straightened out you can tell me yer personal opinion on what is more likely to get'cha fuckt up...
 
I haven't tried them all, but I'm working on it. Based on my experiences and personal preference, here is my list.
Weakest to strongest.
Propoxyphene (Darvocet)- Oral
Dihydrocodeine (CopheneCodeine (Tylenol 3)-Oral
Hydrocodone (Vicoden, Lortab)-Oral
Oxycodone (Percocet, Oxycontin)-Oral
Meperidine (Demerol)-IV
Morphine (Roxanol)-IV
Fentanyl (Actiq)-IV
Hydromorphone (Dilaudid)-IV
Oxymorphone (Numorphan) [*Note- I have only tried the suppository, but I am quite certain that it will retain this spot once I have the pleasure of mainlining it]
This is based on the most efficient and practical means of administration.
Please be aware that once you get past Oxycodone, the change in effects is immense!
I always thought that Heroin would feel just like Lortab does, only a LOT stronger!
Then I had my first Oral dose of Morphine. It is a completely different experience and feeling!
Then I had my first IV of Fentanyl, again, different feeling.
Granted, some aspects are the same...itching, warm apathetic yet euphoric bliss, relief of pain...
But the entire experience is very different.
And no I can't explain how.

can anybody tell me the potency strength dosage wise?? and where are my benzo-lovers out there?? i still need info on the benzos....
 
Good Corruption, benzo stuff:
[long half life ~24 hours]
clonazepam, clordiazepoxide, diazepam, flurazepam, flunitrazepam
Clonazepam (klonopin) and flunitrazepam (rohypnol) are the strongest per mg.
[short half life ~12hrs]
Lorazepam, alprazolam, triazolam, oxezepam, temazepam
Mg for mg, triazolam (halcion) could be considered to be the strongest, recommended dose being .25mg.

midazolam (versed) is given only via IM or IV injection and is the strongest benzo ive ever had and its supershort acting, within a hour i was back to lucid each time.
 
weird...halcion is stronger than xanax but it seems that xanax is the word on everyone's lips out there...is it cuz xanax has a more desireable effect or cuz of availabilty issues or what??
 
Heh, these kinds of threads always get too confusing with people mistaking potency as in mg for mg and overall strength at any safe dose. Did that sentence even make sense? Oh well....
Man, you asked about fentanyl, do you actually have access to the stuff? (not asking for a source) thats the nicest stuff i've ever tried....it's great...and not so itchy like the oxycodone everyone seems to love around here....
 
naw...i don't have access to fentanyl...i just made this thread for my personal reference just to put in perspective which drug is stronger than the other in the wide range of opiates and benzos...
 
Where would Ultram (Tramadol) fall on that scale above? I've always passed on these things because I thought they probably weren't even worth the trouble with all the better stuff out there.

I agree with the lists posted, but I would like to know where heroin fits in. I just injected 40mg of morphine from vials
