I liked it, vocals def. suck tho, its like an emo take on easy listening college rock. Very unique but needs to be focused pretty badly, you could use more bass fillers (I'm a bassist so I may be biased :P). The guitars do to many basic 1-3-1 or 3-5-3 riffs, you need to mix it up, jumping up/down a whole step is only good for a couple tracks an album tops, and thats with varied tempos and fillers... I liked it for a new group though, stick with it!

I have a band to if you guys are interesed in checking it out, I've only been playing with em 3 weeks, but we have some good chemistry and a lot of fans on our MS, seems like we're catching on pretty quick and I'm SO excited. We've just got demos up ATM but we're gonna be recording an EP this upcoming weekend, so check em out and if you like us friend us!!!

Any and all constructive criticism is more then welcome, I really want this band to go somewhere, and I think we've got the potential to do so to!!

@axl_blaze

im gonna have to agree on the grit that is supposedly lacking in the mix. live, i bet you sound pretty raw. but even the bootlegs on your page are sync'd to a backing track. try recording to tape instead of digital and tell your engineer to take it easy on the compression. other than that, the drums sound pretty tight imo and it looks like you guys know how to please the crowd.

for your critique, here's a mashup of Jay-Z's "Dirt Off Your Shoulder" with some Cambodian blues-rock from "Sublime Frequencies", which is a label that distributes/archives AMAZING world music. The main-riff is a little repetitive, but I think if you like hip-hop you won't mind too much.

This isn't really my time of music. That said, it's good, and I can imagine you guys becoming really popular.

a couple of music videos me and my band made back in the wonderful days of high school summer.

I like.

just some simple tunes i've done up in the past few weeks, got a banjo for christmas and have been messin around with it since..

"oh papa, cricket's on the jug again"
http://www.sendspace.com/file/zsvihu
layered banjo experiments.. some plucking, some layers with a slide
a layer of simple percussion from the banjo head
a harmonica layer
some guitar strumming in there
and a layer of beatin some loose change around in my hand

"old rag romp"
http://www.sendspace.com/file/g8e6ei
a solo instrumental slide banjo number

i by no means have any clue what i'm doing in terms of notes and chords when i mess with the instruments, hope someone'll enjoy it though.. leaning towards doing some more experimenting with the style of the first tune.. both were recorded with garage band, and when adding multiple layers, humming and droning seem to build up rather easy.. defiantly not crystal clear listening..

This sound aims a telescope at a shadow's addiction to the unknowable. It's kind of a dark, psychedelic drone-folk sound.

The Game Owls - Becoming the Dark Twin

Make sure you click the link for Becoming the Dark Twin rather than BLINDLAND. BLINDLAND is the previous album, which is a near-unlistenable frenzied attempt to vomit a shadow.

^hah creepy stuff indeed, especially enjoyed the first number

you might be interested in some tunes by Davenport Family, GHQ, or Natural Snow Buildings.. similar dark droning acoustics that you might find inspiration from

Hey Folks!

Im usually here reading up on other non-music related topics =D but i thought this might be worth putting up:

This is my new EP, the link above takes you to the download page where you can get it in either Mp3 or Flac, or request a hard copy mailed out to you (free also).

Style wise i would say its like a cross between newer skinny puppy, depeche mode and although im not a huge fan, a lot of people would say NIN....i would also say throw in a bit of black album era metallica....

Hope you dig it...

I play in a roots rock / Americana band called Root Hog. Major influences include Little Feat, Allman Brothers, and The Band.

Here's a show we recently played over at archive.org. If you like it feel free to download/burn it to disc/pass it along. We are currently playing around the midwest, so come out and catch a show sometime if you're around Michigan, Indiana, or Illinois.
