Whenever I do LSD I tend to drop 200ug or more at a time. In a recent trip on Dec. 21 I did approximately 350-400ug. Yes I am aware that this is a heavy dose, but I'm an experienced user and I know what I can handle. I trip maybe once every 3-4 months. Please note that even taking a lower dose does not seem to really reduce the effect I'm about to describe.
The deep, restful sleep that comes after a night of tripping - what I like to call "psychedelic sleep" - is familiar to most users. My friend and many others I have met feel highly restored after such sleeps, especially if they get fit in a good meal before they do it. I also have these deep sleeps. They can last for 12 hours or more.
The problem is that I don't seem to immediately recover from post-trip fatigue like others do. All my friends talk about waking up feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. I'll feel that way initially, but a mere 4-5 hours later I feel like I need to sleep again. It's exhausting and negatively impacts my life, especially because I'm not the type of person to shirk on my responsibilities. I'll just end up doing them but I'll be suffering because all I can think about is taking a nap.
I'm wondering if this is related to dopamine fatigue, and if maybe my brain is just more sensitive than others. In my early 20's I abused MDMA heavily and now it no longer works on me. I'm wondering if this could relate to my exhausted feelings after doing LSD. I've tried to mitigate the effects by taking neuroprotectives like nootropics before and after tripping. It helps somewhat but not entirely. I would say that my complete recovery from a psychedelic takes about a week square, but on the odd occasion up to 2 weeks is not uncommon. The same goes for mushrooms.
Aside from the mental fatigue, I find that LSD offers huge benefits to my life. It improves my circulation (cluster headaches be gone), mood, outlook on life, creativity, and makes me more open to novelty again. Plus I just find it incredibly spiritual. If I could just figure out the fatigue aspect I would call this the perfect DOC for me.
Could someone with advanced neurochemical knowledge shed some insight on this?
