TDS Post something that inspires you vs. sharing is caring

My son inspires me, we have a little project going on right now. We are planting a garden , eh I'm trying to give him a green thumb, at three years old.

Aww.

I remember being a little kid and my mom doing that with me. I'm in my early 20's and still remember it- it's something I will surely remember for life. Priceless memories.

Watching The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly actually inspires me to stay off drugs. Was in near panic-attack craving straits and throwing this flick on is already somehow making me do better.

the wonderful woman I met in recovery (her and I both said we can see being with eachother for a long time) and her 9year old daughter (not mine but I do love the kid). sucks being a romantic and family man buried under a macho womanizing exterior sometimes. everytime I see her and her daughter the world seems to brighten. the time will come eventually to where her and I will be together. I just don't know when yet.

I was watching an episode of COPS, and this guy was a worker by the river doing something; he ended up getting swept away by the current, but was saved.

I'm sure a lot of us are holding on in a more figurative sense, but I still thought this would be inspirational to everyone here. <3

the scent of burning incense (specifically nag champa as it's my fave) inspires me.

I bought a new box of champa today and tonight the fragrance has inspired me to visit bluelight.

I haven't come to BL in long while.

Good thread idea spork :)

3 things stand out for me -

Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby is the one novel that made me want to become a writer, because of how simply incredible his prose is. I didn't think words could be so powerful.
Pink Floyd's Time inspired me to make the most of my life before it's too late (those lyrics honestly scared me).
And I've got to say the entire work of Led Zeppelin just convinced me that there is beauty in the world that's worth living for; the one song that stands out is Since I've Been Loving You.

Oh wow great song. Great jam. Rly hit the nerves in my back n neck. Sup Pagey i think we've had a run in before. Ya 1 of the most powerful inspiring things i can do in my life is listen to the music of my youth. Reminiscent music. Although it makes me sad that i've come so far from some of those moments in my life, it gives me the opportunity to re create them.

So you might have heard this story about this Australian dude that happens to live by a picturesque cliff that a lot of suicidal people want to throw themselves from.

Now, while you or I would decide sooner or later that this is a fucking depressing place to live and find a better house, Don Ritchie has lived there 50 years, and instead of trying to avoid these sad, stressful situations that would send any of us running the other way, he goes out there every time and talks to them.

He's saved 160 lives by some estimates. He hasn't been able to save everyone and has watched people jump to their deaths right in front of him, but that doesn't stop him from going out there again and again, every time.

And after talking to hundreds of suicidal people, I don't know about you, but I'd be tempted to start yelling at each new person about how the 100 people before them all said the same thing and where do they get off thinking their problems are so unique. But Ritchie manages to treat each person like they matter.
